WOYWW 222: the one where she answers questions posed last week

This will be my final WOYWW, hosted by our beloved Julia at Stamping Ground, for a few weeks, since I feel bad if I don't reciprocate when others leave me awesome comments and if I don't have time to answer your questions on your blog.  This is just a short hiatus, and I'll hopefully be back before I (or my rocking horses) are even missed.  When I return, all will be revealed and there might even be a giveaway.

Several questions were posed last week in "comments."  In case I didn't get to your question, here are the ones I remember.

One person asked if I live with others.  I thought I would admit confess that I live with Bleubeard, the other better looking half of this blog, and about 450 rocking horses.

Several of you asked if I had any other desks.  Yes, I have a garage desk (or workbench), but didn't have time to photograph it in time to show it.  However, all I had time for was finding a few old photos to answer the other questions.

My office desk doesn't get inky, painty, or gluey.  Note, too, several rocking horses within easy view.

Of course, it's hard to photograph.  It's obvious I'm a symmetrical gal.  What's shown on one side

is also on the other.

Here's basically the same view when the sun isn't streaming in.

Some of you asked what I created with the flour, oatmeal, and Cream of Wheat.  I tried to explain they are used as resists.

The supplies I used for the Cream of Wheat resist are the same as

for flour resist.

If you want to learn more about this technique, I suggest you return at your leisure and check out the link on my right sidebar called Dyeing Using Kitchen Ingredients.  The above photo, taken on my living room rug, shows results of a few of my finished flour, oatmeal, and Cream of Wheat fabric resists.

If I didn't make it to your place last week, I truly apologize.  It's because it was the end of the month and I had a lot going on.  Please forgive me, and I'll do better this week before I shut down my computer.  Don't worry.  I have a few posts scheduled, so you won't be left with dead air.  However, I may not be around, except for Tuesday T.

Please leave your number if coming from Julia's and I'll be around to visit.

Hi Elizabeth,
Sometimes it is good to unplug for a while. I have not played WOYWW for two weeks, and not sure about this week. I will look forward to your scheduled posts and of course our T days, so glad you will still come back for those! Do take care and see you on Tuesday my friend.

I think I'd have a work desk in EVERY room, if just Chloe and I lived here.Having someone else in the house does tend to make me confine myself a bit.I have desks in..the garage, my sewing room, the kitchen! Only 3!hehe.
Miss you while you are gone.I really enjoy your posts.

that screen saver on your computer is so cool. what a neat idea for a post...love your pile of resist-dyed fabrics! (I remember the posts and the messiness involved.) the fabrics turned out beautifully, but would you do that technique again? =) you ARE the queen of experimentation, as well as the Queen of Free!

I am definitely coming back to learn about that resist technique--I love that stack of papers! WOYWW will miss you while you are away--but I understand, Wednesdays do take some time to respond to the comments and visit around for sure. And I highly recommend getting something to emboss with...so fun to do. Thanks for your sweet visit. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #11

Maybe you could get Bluebeard to pop in and post on your behalf from time to time? Thanks for answering the questions. The kitchen ingredients had me wondering. I was also sure whatever you did with them was messy. I like that we got to see both sides of your desk and that you are an symmetrical girl. I also got a giggle at the sun streaming in. It made you desk seem blessed by the powers that be.

Cazzy said...

Well you live and learn! As for that first photo - it looks quite biblical with the sun looking as though it is streaming from the picture!

I am catching up slowly!

Oh, bless you for looking for my name last week...I didn't post as there's quite a lot going on in my life at the moment regarding my elderly dad's care, my husband's health and my sons' education. I felt slightly beleaguered and just not in the mood to post. The welsh word for it is 'HWYL' (pronounced hoil) it means gumption, enthusiasm, get up and go etc. And mine had disappeared last week......
But onwards and upwards, my mum would be saying for me to pull myself together!! Good ol mum, I miss her..
Sorry, this is all about me! I hope your hiatus is a happy one rather than the alternative. Enjoy the break and come back recharged. I think we all need to do that occasionally. I don't know how Julia keeps it up every week!
Take care, sending love and best wishes,

Dear Elizabeth,
I so understand your feelings about not getting around to everyone, but a couple of weeks ago, when for some reason I got lots of comments and had a crazy week and didn't get to everyone - felt really bad about it - I got a lot of good advice. Summed up it came to: let yourself off the hook. It took a while, but then I did and it was amazing. I felt much better. We are all busy and thankful we have a forum where we can connect with people who share a similar love and/or passion. We do the best we can. Most of the time that's REALLY well. But we are after all, only human. So please from a friend afar, don't be too hard on yourself.
I did take a week off here and there, and that helped. But I did go sneaking around to see what others were up to as well!
So please enjoy your time away, but be sure to come back. Because I for one, like seeing Elizabeth and Bluebird on the list!
Hugs,
Sara j (thanks for visiting too!!)
