WOYWW 221: The one where she shows several desks

What is WOYWW?  Ask our wonderful and wise hostess, Julia at Stamping Ground, and she'll tell you it's all about the desks.  We who participate are now lovingly referred to as DESKERS.  Isn't that sweet?

Now I confess.  Although my desk in my main floor craft room looks basically the same, and an obligatory rocker is sitting on my mailing desk you got to snoop through last week, every photo you are about to see is old.  Some of you may have read I consider my entire home a craft area, so here is the proof.  I'm getting ready to work on a much hated project that will take away most of my computer time, so decided to share a few of these OTHER desks today.  I laughingly call this my sewing and cutting desk, but there is not much room for either.  Of course, I make do.
This is my ugly back patio desk, where I sometimes photograph my T Stands For Tuesday images,
or create tutorials that are too messy to perform inside.
Recently, I started crafting at my desk that lives on my front porch.
You might also catch me working at my kitchen desk,
especially if I'm sorting a swap.
My dining room table is a favorite desk, too.
I've even used it as my WOYWW work desk, as is evidenced by the rocking horses.
Of course, I also use it when I entertain.  Can you tell this was for a Super Bowl party with my share of the food ready waiting for the others to arrive?  I walked through the steps of how I created the table decoration/runner (made from fabric and paper, then sewed) in a post back in January, 2012.
In the basement is yet another desk.  I don't often sit to craft, but when I do, I like it here because everything is in easy reach.
When I stand, I use this roll around table that holds my extremely large craft mat.
Recently I added a fabric stamping station made from a portable ironing board and four layers of felt.  Over that I've placed an old bed sheet that will keep the felt from getting paint on it.

I hope I didn't take up too much of your time this week.  Thanks for peeking at a few, although not all, of my work desks.

Please leave your number if you are coming from Julia's.  It makes it so much easier to find you so I can reciprocate.

My goodness, girl! Where do you get all of your ideas?
PS- What are you making with the Oats and Cream of Wheat?

Bleubeard and Elizabeth said...

Nancy, I'm not sure you will ever see this, because I am NOT in the habit of answering questions on MY blog. I prefer to go to your blog, but since you don't have one, and I can't leave you a message unless I join Google + (which I refuse to do), I will have to leave it here. I used the oatmeal, flour, and Cream of Wheat as fabric resists. You can find the posts under "dyeing using kitchen ingredients." Thanks for asking.

So many desks and ideas and so little time! LOL I have to admit... I keep my creating downstairs to the two desks and a fold up table if required.. I don't think Chris would be very amused to come home and find he had to eat dinner off his lap! LOL

Basically you just craft EVERYWHERE. As for my video, they say "trade knick knacks if you want", although not sure what she put in the cache, looks like she took something from her hair! BJ#6 awake at 2.50am boiling hot so what else to do but link up!

I have never captured all the places I craft but I am starting to think that crafters make do with whatever is available. I like to craft in my craft room but will move around more to be near family. Just hate lugging my stuff back to my room.

Thanks for sharing. You are amazing.

Have a blessed day!

Where is Bluebeard and do you have a desk in the toilet and bedroom because they are the only rooms left I think unless you have spare bedrooms maybe you have some desks in there too. LOL Gosh never a dull moment in your house, crafting everywhere, looks like you have heaps of inspiration and it doesn't matter what room you are in, you can just go with it and create. Good for you and thanks so much for the tour, still wondering where Bluebeard the cat is....... give him a pat from us...

How do you keep track of where all your materilas are? You are very lucky to have so many tables though. Apart from my craft desk I only have a tiny one on the patio. My dining table is never used because it is buried under bags and bags of knitting, donated for my Knit for Africa project!
You do so many interesting things to. have a great week. Kate x#61

Oh to have so many - or even half, no a quarter - of those places to craft. Thanks for the journey through your house - it must be huge! I now have plans for our bedroom, wonder if he would agree to us sleeping in the small room?
Thanks for understanding the problem with PO's - damned nuisance.
Enjoy! Hugs, Neet 25 xx (thanks for visiting me - I was still asleep)

Thanks for the quick reply… I told my daughter I thought the front one was sage, wasn't 100% on the back. As an Italian Cook, I can recognize most herbs. Sage is very big in Italian cooking. I also love it in my turkey stuffing at Thanksgiving, and my homeade Italian sausage. What do like to use it in?? One day I'd like to cook you a fabulous meal. (I grew up in an Italian Restaurant started by my Italian immigrant grandparents that opened in 1933, and is still family owned and run today) I make a really mean cannoli!!! :D Much Love, hugs, and kisses and all that mushy friend stuff!!! Fascnating. Now I know these aren't all taken on the same day, but really E - at any given time your house is immaculate. I wanna come live with you. I adore love and covet such a kitchen table...grain, colour, life and gatherings..oh the stories. When I win the lotto and can afford a big plot, Mr Dunnit's gonna build me a house with a wrap around porch. And then I'm going to have an ugly section too..because I can't see what's ugly about ours!

Bridget Larsen said...

Well I reckon your craft desks are are big as my craft room. ONe question with the photo of your back patio, the heating thing looks like it is small and sits on your windowsill but Iam sure that is not right lol

WOW, how awesome to have all these tables to use. I LOVE THIS!! If my house were bigger this is what I'd do too. For now it's the kitchen table that gets most used. In the family room I have two banquet type tables set up against a wall and that is where all my scrapping/art stuff is. Would love a nice spot outside to craft with and have dreamed of turning a wall in the garage into a workspace for me too.
Hope you will share where your other tables are.
The kids had a great first day of school yesterday. Little Sienna will have her first day today, she is excited.
Hoping to craft a little in my quiet house, yesterday was filled with phone calls, errands, chores and happy T time blog hopping.
Have a great day and thanks so much for sharing this wonderful post with us.

Elizabeth, are there more than you and Bleubeard sharing this highly creative home? If so, where do they manage to fit in? I love the idea of crafting on the porch, sounds absolutely blissful.
And I wondered what you did with the creamed wheat and oats too, (not that I have ever seen creamed wheat in UK) but I can still wonder.

I love this post! It is so fun seeing all your work places and your processes. I feel like my whole house is my craft room too--I just have a lot of things in one particular area. I don't think I really sit down to craft either because I can't seem to gather everything together for one sit. And my sewing machine is up on a shelf counter because I like to stand and sew! Oh to be able to craft anywhere! My family already thinks I take up too much room. But this was a great and entertaining post to read and I love seeing all your stations.

I love how you admit to using your whole house, cause I do too! When I take a pic for WOYWW I tend to feel guilty because I actually have stuff on many desks, inside and outside as well. :) Oh and I love your cat, I had one just like that as a little girl. Now I have another beauty who is black and fluffy. It's ok if you don't want to join G+, it's annoying, but I have email on my blog too. thx for sharing Ann 107.

This is why I'm kept on a short leash. I would totally desk out my entire house given a chance. Do you have one of those trays that stand up over your legs when you are in bed too? How about a bathtub desk? If not that gives you something to strive for.

Oh my, Elizabeth, I'm late but I'm glad I made even though I'm feeling just a tad overwhelmed - so many desks. And I just love the rocking horse with the curly main on your dining table - and tulips, long past tulip time here, wonderful :) And what are you planning to make with the cream wheat (have no idea what that is as we don't have it in Scotland) and quick oats (we do have these) that's on your hated patio table - the mind boggles :)) Hope you have a wonderful weekend. WOW what a lot of desks! I thought I had a lot with the desk and bench, but I do sometimes work round the house too.

I am attempting to go round all the T for Tuesday and WOYWW commenters that I haven't caught up with for two weeks now, and I have a whole lot of catching up to do!

How many workspaces is that? I struggle to control one, and usually fail. Perhaps your rocking horses help with the tidiness. I love to see who you show each week. I am hoping to have a crafty afternoon tomorrow to play with more of my new stash. Sorry I am so late getting round this week. There are not enough hours in the day. xx Maggie #12
