WOYWW 176: The exploring Money edition (the AB that is)

As my Altered Book class winds down (see my right sidebar for each free lesson), I thought I would show Julia, our beloved leader and keeper of the links, as well as all my WOYWW friends and AB students a peek into one of my altered books.  I promise not to waste much of your time, because you should be able to scroll quickly if you aren't interested in altered books.

I showed the cover to my Money AB during WOYWW 143 back in February.

Note the Christmas-y rocking horse I am sharing with you today, along with a peek into the Money AB.  I hope to scan it soon (at a higher resolution, of course)  so you can peruse it at your leisure, rather than at a mad dash to visit as many blogs as possible.

Here is the inside front cover and a few of the first pages.

We covered fabric in my AB class and here is a spread using fabric as a background, as well as the cover and inside front of the AB.

I used lots of magazine images, which some of you found fun and others found boring.

I also created some unconventional embellishments.

Pockets don't require many pages and create lots of room for adding tags, which many of you love to make.

I showed how to make this type of pocket in the class.

One thing I didn't show was how to create an extension on a spread.

I even used real money on some pages!

We began the class by creating niches.  Here are the two, one covered, one open,

I made for my Money AB.  And yes, that's more real MONEY.

The cover was a tee shirt, and very hard to work with considering how stretchy the fabric was.

I left the title (The Fortune) because I thought it was apropos.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please leave your number and I hope to make it to your place for a visit.  At least if I can keep this computer going, which is still no small feat!!

That's such an amazing amount of work Elizabeth, and a lot of time taken too. Yeah, I thought I'd measure his shoes and deduct a bit off, but I have a more pressing problem, I'm concerned I won't get a sock out of a single ball of yarn... and I only have the two! Bought this wool last December so I know I won't be able to guarantee dye lots, assuming of course, that they still have it!!

I always enjoy seeing your ABs! I love the topic of this book & have enjoyed seeing some of its details over the course of our lessons.

I have been working to finish as many pages in mine as I can before it is "cover time". This has been a fun journey that I am looking forward to repeating!

The money AB looks quite wonderful, Elizabeth. Hope mine comes together as well.

Your money AB is amazing! I think my very favorite element is the tag pocket--I am taking a library sale book on housecleaning and altering it to become an art journal. Right now, I'm just painting the pages--should be done with that soon though. From there, I need to take your class! So you lived in Joplin? I live in Springfield--really love it here. And yes, the Joplin tornado continues to be in the news as the area recovers little by little. Thanks so much for visiting me today! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #11

Oh wow Elizabeth - that book is so much fun - I love all the hidey places in it - its the child in me that likes to think of enchanted and secret places for things... some of the techniquesd you've used are so satisfying too - to achieve them must make you feel, well, great!

One day I am definitely going to do an altered book - I do have a hardback book ready for the job - I just dont have loads of the pretty sprays and mediums that you have - but I'm sure I have enough that I could improvise.

You are a generous lady for doing all of those lessons for free...

I love your book.

So much work there and I especially love the pockets. I'd love to see more full pages open for a really good snoop! It took me ages to pore over the views!. My book hasn't progressed very far, just a few pages and two sets of niches. I find that whilst I love to look at others I don't find a use for making one which I thought I'd feel. I am veering towards making more useful items so may turn my AB into a journal with spaces to write.
We spoke of you at the weekend and said how good it would be if WOYWW contributors such as you could make it over to meet up with members here. You would have loved it in such a pretty typical area of rural England. It was so quaint to me as I'm a city girl. Everyone there was so friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere.
Maybe if you can ever get over you could time it right and you know that, at least, Donna and I are willing hosts for you. Glad you enjoyed my pics.
