WOYWW 171: the apology edition

Today I want to begin with an apology. I was able to visit about 25 people last week, then my computer shut down. I'd get back on, visit one or two people, then my computer would shut down again. I finally ran several virus programs and it appears I got a virus from a blog. Thankfully, it was not a WOYWW blog, but a blog none-the-less. It has taken me forever to try to get my blog running smoothly again, and it still is shutting down at the most inopportune times, mostly when I am trying to create a blog post, or leave someone a comment. Further, I cannot leave more than two blogs open at once, which means I can leave Julia's blog open because hers has the links, and YOUR blog. Any more than that and my computer freezes and quits. Add to that the fact my computer is now running so slow it takes forever to open a blog, and forever to get to the comments. I tried. I really did. But it's not any better today than it was yesterday or last Thursday. I'm so hoping I can find a way to speed things up a bit. So please excuse me if I put in only a brief appearance this week.

Now let's get to my desk and the three projects that are on it. One is the "mystery sneak peek" from last week, which as many of you guessed, was polymer clay. Under my altered book are some papers I have painted and trying to uncurl flatten. In back are some fabric pieces I'm starting for either flags or quiltlets. They're in their first stage at the moment.

And of course, the Rocking Horse, which hangs in one of my windows. I got it years ago at a craft fair.

And a final view of the page I made using all that previously hidden polymer clay. Thanks for stopping by. I'll try to reciprocate as I explained. And when you leave your number, it makes it so much easier to find you.

That a really cute page. I really like the clever little houses. Sometimes it seems a hammer maybe the best repair tool for computers! LOL. Good luck solving the problems!

I am so sorry that you are still having computer problems, maybe it's time to admit defeat and take it into a professional for help? I think it needs a hospital stay, home remedies don't seem to be working! Loving how the page turned out!waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Your 'puter may be running slow but you're still quicker at typing in than I am, even though I only have 6 characters to type! Hope you can get it sorted out, hate those viruses. Very bold journal page, like it.

Nothing as annoying as a computer with a bug. Love your little rocking horse and lovely to see all those bits of polymer clay come to life on the page.

I hope your computer troubles get fixed soon. I was without internet for a whole week during hurricane Isaac and I don't know how we ever managed before technology.

I love your page-great colors! I was one that guessed polymer clay. Have a good week! dani #18

What a complete bother, so frustrating having such problems with your computer. We get so used to using them nowadays. Thank you so much for your lovely kind comment and I am so lucky to have met so many of the lovely people from WOYWW. Great weekend ahead too with Dona and Jennie for the workshop.
Love your page, the colour combo is so striking too.

How awful for you. I have been spitting feathers this last week with a change over of computers and getting used to the different ways this one performs. Nothing like what you have had to put up with though. Hope it soon gets sorted for you.

Yeah! I guessed right last week. It reminded me of something I had done in those colours not that long ago. Now I never thought of incorporating them into an altered book - brilliant idea. They really work on those pages.

Gentle hug to Bleubeard and hugs to you

thank you for already dropping by, Elizabeth. oh, i know what you mean about s - l - o - w connections! it makes it so hard to go visiting! i am also having interent problems. apparently caused by a thunderstorm that did something to some of the equipment. we already bought a new whatever that is and they told us it just needed calibrating and after calibrating, the new and old one still didn't work! the colors and layers in your altered book are great and i really like how the polymer pops up.

Hi Elizabeth! I'm so sorry you're having all those frustrations! Yesterday we had a brown out and the internet stopped and my husband is in another part of the Philippines so I could not depend on him to fix it. This morning I couldn't make a blogpost until I went and used Peggy's internet connection! I would have been super frustrated if I couldn't make my WOYWW post! You always make such thoughtful comments, it would be a pity if we gave you a hard time. I've started removing from my blogroll but I haven't made such leeway cause I have such a long list of blogs I like to visit! One day I'll get it done and hopefully all those bugs would disappear! Never thought of using polymer clay in an AB! Patsy

oho dear and I moaned and yell at my computer for being slow! I think I had 15 plus windows open at one time, plus, more tags, my poor thing kept slowing down to nothing, or the error would come up, plus the fact it has add on hard drives. I will be kinder to my computer from now on! Poor thing, it too could have the start of the flu or another bug too! And, there's always the internet connection it#s self...loading loading...white space, it drives you mad. Or some blog starts playing music and no matter who you turn off, it's still there!!
Your journal page looks fantastic, as always..I've still yet to finnish a page I can show! Have a great week

Sorry about your computer issue. I had a bad virus a few months ago, also from a non WOYWW blog and I used a programme called Malware, it's free and it did help cleaning up my system. Love your journal page and the rocking horse is so cute. Happy WOYWw, Anne x

Oh the computer thing really must make you mad, it's sooo frustrating. I don't think anyone minds at all, it's just so good to see you. Now you see, I saw the sneak peek last week, hazard-ed a guess, and I saw the lesson about the polymer clay which was so utterly absorbing that I failed to make the connection between the two..how embarrassing! The page looks absoultely fab, and hey if generally the pages don't want to sit flat, what the heck!

Great polymer clay page but I'm still not wanting to get into this area of crafting. I am however itching to do a quiltlet. I even had my sewing machine out again this week (if you pop over to see) I have some 20cm of the netting left over too, perhaps I need another window in my book - LOL. BJ#102

After reading about all the problems you've been encountering, I am so pleased that you managed to leave me a comment at all this morning. I've got to admire your persistence, I'd have thrown in the towel by now I think.

I've been having problems with curling pages too - having applied gesso to some Kraft for the Hero layout, it curled and then it was almost impossible to get a decent photograph - I had to do a tiny bit of cropping to the photo make it look acceptable. If I gesso again, I'll put something heavy on top of it, hopefully that will flatten it.

Happy WOYWW and I hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #12

Nothing is more frustrating than computer issues! You're much more patient than I - it would be in the shop by now. A virus is SO nasty and I just don't get why people feel the need to add them and ruin computers for others - hopefully karma comes back to kick their butts! Go snuggle with Bleubeard, make some art, drink some tea and forget the whole mess! :)

That is terrible news having your computer gremlins doing that to you, you could try kicking it, or punching it, or one better come into the house with someone elses laptop or ipad and pretend you are replacing it with better technology. You must be at your wits end, have a stiff drink you deserve it. Now onto the serious stuff your journal page is great love the clay touch, just perfect. Thanks for sharing and happy WOYWW it's been nice to visit.
