More photos from the Wichita-Sedgwick County Museum

If you saw yesterday's post, you KNOW where I used my FREE Smithsonian Museum Day ticket.  Yes, this truly is my favorite museum I've visited so far.  See you when I return from my afternoon at the museum.

The last two stay-cation posts for this museum, found here and here didn't have many photos. This one, however, has a LOT. There was no good place to take a break once I had moved to the children's rooms. So here is the latest edition of my stay-cation. If you are unfamiliar with my self-imposed rules, please see one or both of my previous entries from this museum. I really don't want to take away from the museum this time.  Thankfully, I had already saved them to Blogger from my old storage site, so the photos are still as crisp as my camera can possibly take.

This room held religious icons.

I wish I'd gotten a better look at this room, especially what was in the cases. But this was one of those rooms I'll revisit when I go back today. There was just too much to take in.

Out of that brightly lit room and once again into the dark hallway, I was confronted with several cases and displays.

A drawing and a small replica of our famous Indian, along with a photo of and information on the artist who created it, are in this part of the hall.

I realize the lighting in the hall is quite dark,

but it is even worse when I used the flash.

Here is a commentary on Wichita's dark history and the people who made history by standing up against racism.

One last photo in the dark hallway before we move to the children's area.

I think I'll let you just enjoy the rest of these photos I took in the children's area.  Some of you who visit may not care for antiques, but this is one super presentation of days gone by.

Isn't this a fabulous museum?  I should have saved this for a Silent Sunday presentation.  Whether a fan of antiques or not, you have to admire how much time, care, and effort has gone into creating these vignettes.

I can see where you would have to go back more than once to really be able to look at everything. I love the old antiques! :)

The only museum in our area that was participating was a gemstone Museum, so I didn't go. You'd be amazed at how many gemstone this and that are around this area. I did, however love the childrens section, I love looking at old toys and artifacts from the bygone eras. Thanks for sharing. waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

I may not know much about antiques, but I really enjoyed the all of the sections devoted to child's play. I don't want to date myself here, hahaha...but I had a scooter very similar to the one next to the bike with the big wheel!

what a wonderful tour! thanks for taking us along.
i actually checked out how many museums are near me that were participating, and i had 6 great museums that i COULD have gone to . . . unfortunately i had a house full of relatives visiting, and they wanted to see the Pacific Ocean, and have sea food dinner and hike and, and, and, everything but go to an art museum.

so thank you take me along on your AMAZING day of art. (i especially love the dolls!)
