WOYWW 167: the AB window edition

Short and sweet this week, just like Julia, our hostess with the mostess likes it. I'm still working on this window for my altered book lesson. It's still not ready for the curtain. I hope it's finally finished on Friday, This has been tougher than I thought.

I would never leave you without a rocking horse, and this pink one, washed out by the lack of light in my room, is a planter. Now I must find just the right plant to place in it. I'll be by when I can this week, because Wednesday morning my neighbor Sally and I are off to shop for a new tree for her yard, then we'll be off to lunch.

You are trying to get ahead of the game. Have fun tree shopping. :) Make sure and talk her out of one that might send icky stuff into your yard...unless the prevailing winds are in your favor than I guess it won't really matter.

great work on the art journal - i have put windows in books to give sneak peaks before and hung/strung things in the aperture - have you looked at the kids book PEEPO! by Janet and Alan Ahlberg? It is an amazing book with apertures that give sneak peaks to details on the following page. And their artwork is just stunning. happy woyww jenx 60

I like the planter - if you've gotta have a collection (and who doesn't) it's nice to have some practical pieces..helps me justify the addiction! Tree shopping sounds wonderful..a morning of pottering at a nursery surely demands a lunch stop too - although if I remember well, Sally doesn't walk too far, huh..so maybe an elevenses break...lovely. I did it yesterday with Mary Anne, just coffee and chatting after a quick trip around the Hobbycraft store..very nice diversion.

Fab horse this week. I love things with windows - it makes you feel you are getting a sneaky peek at something (so appropriate for the WOYWW crowd, as we are snoopy by nature!) Have a great WOYWW!

The window is look awesome so far! I just finished mine and found it to be probably the most time consuming of the pages so far...lots of gluing and waiting in this humid weather we are having. I hope to get a door page made before Monday, too!

For 9 years i have an AB called friends. each time i work on it I find a deceased friend and quit. I will try in the next month to complete it as it is as much a tribute to my attempts at paper-crafting as it is to women friends. With all your tutorials I will be encouraged.

Love the colours you've chosen for these pages Elizabeth. I read down a bit too and was very sad to see the tree being felled, I hope there was a really good reason for that and not just personal preference. Makes me think of the rendition of Bonny Portmore by Loreena McKennitt, incredibly haunting Celtic song about the loss of the old growth forests in the UK.

I love the pages of your book. My favourite colour pallette and it looks quite spooky in such a nice way. I just wish I could get to work at mine. Still haven't shown you my progress, or lack of it!
Hope you have a good day out tree hunting and lunching. A new beginning after the sad loss of the other tree.

You won't know this - but I spent Sunday with you, I am all up to speed on my AB, I cannot tell you how much fun I had, you are an elegant teacher, and one day i will show you my left finger - our left fingers could be twins, only I have always thought of mine as wonderfully unique in terms of it's uselessness and bizarre shape, i think yours is fab too, never would I have thought of your hands as ugly, ugly hands couldn't make the beautiful things you make.. I will update my blog with images of the work I have done under you instruction as soon as I get a minute!!!! Take care B@E oh and if you ask I will show you my deformity...

can't remember my number - here's an easy link - copy and paste www.adonnathing.com I am late so don't feel you have to come over straight away...

ooh, loving the colour combo. I also took a tour of your studio, amazing especially the idea to keep embossing powders upside down so you can see what colour it is, love the handmade papers and the idea of having a studio big enough for a microwave. Love the WOYWW sewing machine dust cover too!

Have fun tree shopping! Love how the window is coming along. It will have curtains, you say? Well, that I will have to come back and check out at some point. The planter is great. I used to have a similar style planter as a kid, it looked like a carriage rather than a rocking horse. It had Styrofoam and fake flowers in it and I played with it a lot-it would give my little ceramic animals a ride amongst the flowers.
