July and August in my monthly calendar

The only note worthy bit about July, 2012 was the heat. Long hot nights and even longer and hotter days marked this month in which several heat records were set. I know this probably sounds strange to Kate of The Kathryn Wheel whose weather has been less than impressive this summer, but I am definitely looking forward to turning the page all the way to autumn!

Unfortunately, I still have August to deal with. At least I'm ready for it, and wishing for cooler weather may be the only thing this background will be good for. I'm hoping it will feel like a beach theme and I'll at least feel cooler when I write in it.

For those of you who love minutia, here is the left side of July's calendar, showing why I continue to hate my handwriting, and

here is the right side. I hope your part of the world had less heat and more water than my little corner of the world had in July. At least we are now past the half-way mark for 2012.

Fabulous pages Elizabeth - colour is one thing I struggle with, you seem to have a natural ability to put them together. It's great reading some of the days to see what people get up to :-)

Your calendar is great! My handwriting is worse than yours by a long shot. Maybe one day people in a far off time will treasure our chicken scratching compared to the way they will be writing. With text messaging as it is now, no doubt their will be only one syllable words!

Your days are chock full of fun! The backgrounds are super--since your AB lessons, I am noticing colors and composition more. My handwriting suffers from writing fast...and to think I got penmanship awards when I was a kid.

Great calendar pages. Hope August is a good one for you.

Up until recent years I always thought Sunday started the week :-/ I don't know how I managed that haha (must be because of Creationism that Sunday ends the week)
I'm ok with colours close to each other and I know the basics of the colour wheel but still struggle when using complementary colours.

I'm with you on wishing for cooler temps and it hasn't been nearly as hot here! Your calendar pages are great as always- and I LIKE your handwriting!

As always, I am impressed that you keep up with things like calendars. I start long projects and fall off the wagon fairly quickly. Hope August brings some relief from the heat in your area.

I didn't know about this at the beginning of the year (the calendar making) and it seems odd to start mid-year, but I'll definitely add it to my to-do list starting January. I love the idea of a calendar to track my blogging and art projects/challenges. Love your layers and colors!

if you don't like your handwriting, just remember, there are those of us who have much worse handwriting!!! lol our hottest months are always August and September and sometimes October (when Santa Ana winds can make fires extremely dangerous and out of control)

I like your pages and gather inspiration from the colors and designs your incorporate

Thank you for stopping by my blog!I like what you had to say about the tea. I'm a diabetic and have to be careful about carbs and sugars. I rarely drink a soda (diet) or anything else in a can so I didn't know. I know what you mean about Golden and Liquitex. Got an extra arm or leg to spare?lol I'll look for the "house" gesso at Hobby Lobby next time I get to go to one and hopefully use a 40% off coupon. (I live 2 hrs from the closest Hobby Lobby)

Really great painterly pages Elizabeth! I can see by some of your splatters and color choices you were thinking about the heat :):). I wish you cool days but personally I still want the heat-summer is never long enough for me.

The oppressive heat you are experiencing certainly comes through in your choice of colours.
