Folded pages altered book homework

Please NOTE: I am changing the order of the syllabus next week. You will see Lesson 14: Zippers. So it's time to buy or get out that zipper. I need to change the order because I have never made windows and doors before, so need lots of time to plan, photograph, and write the lesson. I am also involved in a HUGE project with a non-negotiable deadline, so I must complete it. I sincerely hope this doesn't hurt or hinder too many of you.

Now for my folded pages homework.



As promised last week, here is how I decorated my folded pages in my Hands AB. All images are from the same magazine except the "F" which is actually gold leaf I cut from a high end jewelry store's bag.


The back side finishes the statement.


Remember "way back when" we created frames? Since I have gold in the spread (although the "F" didn't photograph properly in either shot, I decided to use gold in the frame. I began by laying down a fine line of hot glue around both images, allowing one side to cool before moving on to the next. Be sure you have an extra glue stick handy in case you have to replace it during the process.


Once the glue was cool, I ran a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen over the glue. Alternately, I have seen colored hot glue sticks that you could use instead.


When the leafing pen is dry, repeat for the second side. Be sure to wait until the leafing pen is dry. You don't know how many times I have forgotten my own advice and rushed to the next step, thus smearing the gold leaf on both pages.

Also as promised, here is a folded pocket page in my Rocking Horse AB.


You can see the supplies I started with. I only had one 8.5 X 11 sheet of that rocking horse scrapbook paper, and needed to make the most of it.


Here is the first page, showing the left side and the pocket. I used a jeweled brad in the center of the spinner which is a view master slide. The point I was hoping to make was, you would see the rocking horse on the left, look "through" the viewer, and


see the larger horse. I hope you see the humor in that. By the way, I have tags planned to go in the spinner pocket. Thanks for checking in and allowing me to share my homework with you this week. I had fun making this rather "less is more" spread.
