Visit revisited!

For nearly three weeks, I have made no art. It's been a nightmare. But at least I have a few photos to revisit what I did those three weeks. First (well actually last), my friend Ed came and I forgot to take photos until the third day he was here. Amazing how I lost all track of camera and time.

On the third day, my friend Scott (in the foreground) came to dinner with us at a local fast food restaurant. It was Ed's choice. He wanted a "Whopper," but it was hard getting a good photo,

because one or the other,

was always moving. And of course, my camera doesn't take "action shots" very well.

The subject always has to stay quite still for my photos, and that was hard when you want to show an impromptu shot.

On Saturday morning, my camera found us at a local restaurant for breakfast before visiting several local establishments. Of course, I had to catch Ed with his mouth full,

or pontificating about something. Don't you just love pontificators?

I know you're asking what I did for two weeks prior to Ed's visit. First, I started in the front of the house. It was time to finally get out my short ladder that was tall enough to move

the baskets around in my craft room. I wanted the baskets I use the most (or were the heaviest) to be on a shelf I can reach on a step stool. So my fabric had to go to the top shelf and my paint and napkins had to come down where I could reach them without going to the garage for the ladder.

I confess, I did little cleaning in this room. I polished the dressers, but that was it. This room is a working studio, and I

had no time to clean it properly, even though I've not been making art.

Stepping outside the upstairs studio/craft room, you can see why I spent so much time cleaning. Every one of those dust collectors had to be cleaned, dusted, washed, or polished. Of course, I forgot to pick up the cat toys, which are all over the dining area.

I also forgot to remove the box fan I use in the window at night if the nights are cool. I can probably put it away now that the temps are getting into the high 80s, low 90s again (30ish C).

Since there were SO many photos, I thought I should break them into two posts. I'm not playing in Inspiration Avenue this week (theme is mermaids, and I have no way to create one), I'll show the rest of my photos tomorrow. That way you can see what took me so long. One should never let dust get on everything (not to mention the cat fur) like I did!

My apologies to my longtime readers who have seen photos of my home before. It will be a boring two posts, I fear. Have an awesome Thursday, anyway!

It is always great to see you in your home. A wonderful feeling, isn't it, when the dust bunnies are banished and the furniture polished.

I think your house looks cozy & inviting...dust is just a protective covering for those valued items! =) I love your antique cabinets...gotta say, Ed doesn't look like he wanted his picture taken...but he's cute! hope you had a marvelous time! hugs...

I wish I could keep my house as clean as yours- it's crazy how quickly everything gets dusty! I'm glad you had a fun visit!

I can't remember the last time I got to surfaces to dust... too much stuff in the way! Bad, I know, but that's me... Your house looks wonderful.

Oh I hate dusting so much!! It likely wouldn't be so bad if I did it on a more regular basis but I don't.

The dust is relentless (unless it's raining). It just seems to be everywhere. My theory is that it can stay there until I'm good and reasy to deal with it.

Not having seen your home before, I was very happy to share this visit with you. Our home is so dusty all the time, especially when the windows are open, and I just refuse to be a slave to dust!

Well it wasn't boring for me at all, and I felt right at home looking around! lol I am wondering about the dresses you have hung up above your window, would love to know the story behind them! I think this has been a fun post getting to see the "beyond" ....well more than just your craft room! Hope you're able to get back to making some art again, I know your soul misses it! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

I love your antique furniture...especially since it hasn't been painted white! The wall shelves between the windows look especially nice and the table lamp looks pretty special too. Can't wait to see more of your tour. I also see those gadzillions of atc cards on your desk...you aren't really making all of those at one time are you?

First of all, I never find your posts boring. There is always lessons to be learned and new people to meet to say nothing of the rocking horses! LOL

Thanks for inviting us to share your visit with Ed & Scott. You have a lovely home and it's kind of fun to see how a blogging buddy lives and what she surrounds herself with. I love your old hutches and furniture arrangement - it seems to maximize your space very well. The rooms are just so warm and inviting - I'm sure Ed and Scott had a fabulous time. And in a nice clean house too! :)
