For the past two weeks, I have been brief, just as Julia, Queen of WOYWW, requested. Today I'm going to try to be brief again, although there are more photos on this blog post. Today I'm cleaning a Staz-on inked rubber stamp
using 91% Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. I'm wiping the excess ink on my monthly calendar page.
I know you REALLY came to see the rocking horses, so here they are hanging out in my altered book this week!Several WOYWWers wanted more photos of examples of Design Principles in my altered book. If you were here Sunday night/Monday morning, you saw the left side of this spread. This is not just an example of unity (example on the left, showing unity is achieved when like or similar items are bunched together), but it is also an example of "emphasis" (the center of interest that can be created by making one part of the collage stand out or seem special in some way) .
I have a busy week ahead, but will try to visit as many as possible. Also please leave your number so you are easier to find.___________________

My desk is bereft of anything interesting so I am not woyww-ing and I am going to use the time to make some pages up in my book... I know the next couple of months is going to get a bit manic so I don't need to be behind before it gets that way!! I love these pages... that little rocking horse on its own really does stand out!
Well, I got my book but still haven't done anything with it, and my staycation is slipping away from me too quickly! Yikes.... The scrap page at the top looks like a work of art (journal) in itself!

Well, I've removed the pages from my book, but it stalled there. I'll have to work at my own pace. Your page is looking nice! I haven't gotten to the lesson on Design Principles, but I can see what you mean! Have fun!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Please bear with me regarding the colours - it's still a work in progress and I haven't got the text colours etc. right yet - the background is coming out too dark and I'm taking advice on how to fix that. Give me a few days and it should improve!!
My mixed media project is a long slow project because everything takes so long to dry. I'm gradually getting some idea of where I am going with it now, but it's highly experimental!!

Love your altered book and I always look for those rocking horses, sometime hiding and sometimes right out there.
In answer to your question about where I put all the books, they went into the lounge room that my hubby won't let me use as an art room. They were mostly his books and cooking books, so I didn't want them back in my art room. Leaves more room to buy art books :)

Well, Elizabeth, I got my book and I have gutted it following your instructions, I've even left a section, tied up with a rubber band, in which to create a niche, but that's as far as it goes so far. I may never catch up but will persist following your lessons and should complete it this side of the blue moon :) I have decided that instead of having a theme I will use it to record new techniques. Does rubbing alcohol truly take the stain off stamps? That is good to know. Mostly I don't care if they are stained but sometimes you want to stamp something in a light color and the staining will muddy the color. Best to clean the stamp first then. I love the rocking horses in your book! Is the one a die cut? That is just too cool! Judy #143

I can't remember you ever having posted a long ramble that was difficult to get through at any time, but not on WOYWW! I love the grouped rocking horses...I'm to this far yet but am loving the AB course. Do you mind if I share your tip about thickening the thin gesso - its caused quite a lot of questions on my WOYWW today!

I'm going to have to go back and look at all your AB posts - when did you start the class? I have been picking up free books at the library used bookstore - I have french, german, asian books and love the text. I just started an art journal from an old book (have only done one page). As long as I can do your class and don't get in trouble with the teacher.....

Boo I left a long comment and Google Chrome ate it! I love how this evokes childhood memories, tales of the "Tortoise and the Hare" (that horse running behind may overtake the ones in front of him yet!), and utilizes material and color so well. This is beautiful and made me smile (-P:

Sorry I haven't been by lately, well actually I have been, but mostly on phone or tablet thingy that makes it difficult to comment. I so love all journal pages, I haven't started mine, but I hope you don't mind I have been making notes and printing your free class out so I can have a go after I get my injections for my back (soon hopefully).
