Inspiration Avenue: Words

It's Friday and I realize I'm late posting my Inspiration Avenue challenge this week. Although we have until noon Eastern time on Sunday, I like to have mine in early so I can visit every participant, because I'm always thrilled when other participants visit in return.

This week Diane issued her first challenge. She suggested poetry, but I don't "do" poetry. I was however, inspired by words! So here is a house I made for my Houses Techniques Altered Book using the saying, "Home is where the heart is!" It was the only thing I could think of. Diane asked us to explain our inspiration and all I could think of when it came to words was to make something in one of my altered books. I know it's a bit wimpy, but I'm just lucky to even post, after the week I've been through (see previous post if curious).

Materials used: fluid acrylics (Golden), vintage sheet music, vintage school book, scrapbook paper, painted paper, heart punch, computer generated words.

Oh! Oh! You gave me such a good idea when you mentioned vingtage schoolbooks. I have a collection of old math books. How can I use those pages in my art? It's fun to think about! Thanks for your inspiration! There are so many ways to look at common things around us. Sometimes we forget what we have on hand to play with. :)

Love your little house. I think these challenges are all about coming up with something unique to YOU. And that's what you did! :D

House are very symbolic to me and that fits so well with your quote. Great page and your use of saturated colors is marvelous.

Very appropriate submission in light of what you have been going through. I'm glad you still have your home to provide the inspiration for the quote!

I love this! The bright colors, the letters in the house, and of course the sentiment. I've been toying with the idea of doing a series and I keep coming back to houses. I've never done a series, so it will be a new experience....

Altered books/journals tops my list of favorite art projects. I love the colors on your house but more than that I love that you chose the house and the words "Home is where the Heart is". Those are very strong inspiring words that alway touch our hearts and take us home no matter where we are!
Very inspiring.

This house seems like it would be so much fun to crawl inside of and set up a studio in (-: It is very important when your home is a place you can rest, not only physically, but spiritually as well. Thanks for being so inspiring with your beautiful words and images :-D
