Although I'm a freshly ground French Roast turned white with half and half coffee drinker, I love making tea art. I made this piece many months ago in stages. I first made the background for a pink and green challenge, then added the tea cup. Even later, I added the label and string from a tea bag. Finally, I created the spoon that I flattened, colored, and decorated for another challenge.
Once I put it all together, I gave it to a dear friend for her birthday. This is a solid wood block that is 8 inches X 12 inches by 1 inch. And today I'm joining Jenn at Just Add Water, Silly for the first time for her Artists Play Room coffee and tea challenge.Besides being eligible for Jenn's coffee/tea challenge, this is also a piece that uses everything recycled except the background I made using heavy cardstock, twinkling H20s, and oil pastels. I felt it was especially fitting, since we celebrate Earth Day 42 tomorrow. I hope to see you there!

lovely collage! really like the crayon (or oil pastel?) resist in the background--it suggests steam curling up, at least to me--and the altered spoon really tops it off. Happy Earth day to you!

I absolutely love this! I have that same spoon! I have quite a few old pieces of flatware. I love the designs on the handles and the different shapes of the "bowl" of the the spoons. How did you flatten it without it getting warped or cracked?! The tea cup is so vibrant on its soft colored pink and rose background. I hear it is your birthday, so happy days to you! What is the tea cup made of?
