Honoring Inspiration Avenue challenges
Does anyone ever wonder what I do with all those Inspiration Avenue (IA) challenges I show each Friday? And how does that fit with Tuesday Tea I share with Kimmie and friends?
Back in May of this year, I answered this green and purple IA challenge. You can see how I made it here using oil pastels and Twinkling H2Os.
Then I showed this spoon as part of the Art Nouveau challenge from November 4 of this year.
Last Saturday I decided to turn these two pieces into an assemblage, after Priti Lisa left a comment about envisioning the spoon as part of a wind chime. I began by covering a block of 10 inch by 7 1/2 inch by 1 inch wood with gesso, to which I added the deconstructed part of the "Tea for 1" as seen in the first photo. I removed the sentiment and added a tea label with string attached, to the cup. The process took forever, because I glued one side at a time. Originally I had planned to use all tea bags for the back and sides, but changed my mind when I remembered I had made two backgrounds for this challenge.
So today my cup of tea with Kimmie and friends begins on my kitchen table. It's no secret my camera is not the best, so the colors are way off in this shot.
I thought if I stood it up, the colors might be bit truer, but this action only made the tea cup darker.
But then I decided the only way to get a good photo was to scan the piece. So here is the front where you can see I tried to change the spoon color a bit, and
the back. I used the only purple ink I owned to color the rubber stamp of the tea pot and cup, but it simply gets lost on the tea bag. When I began removing the sentiment from the deconstructed piece, I noticed how easily the letters popped off. To make sure that didn't happen in the event I gave someone this assemblage, I glued them to the page.
Have a great Tea Tuesday everyone, and be sure to visit all my tea (and other beverages) drinking friends at Kimmie's.

Love what you did here. The spoon is great and scanning it looks wonderful. so clever! Happy tea day.
Being the perfectionist that you are, you finally got the desired effect by scanning. Anyone receiving your assemblage will be a happy camper, since it turned out wonderful. Lisa has some good ideas doesn't she?
What a great idea - real extended art and tea to boot!
I love how you combined all these elements you have been making over time. This came out great and I enjoy the 3-D quality of adding the spoon. xox Corrine

That is what is so great about art - it is constantly being recreated into something new and beautiful! Thank you for being a part of IA's challenges! You bring inspiration to us as well!

Oh this is SO beautiful- I LOVE it! What a special treat, and thanks for honoring IA this way- makes it even more special to me. I hope you have this displayed somewhere you can enjoy it every day, or is it a (wondeful) gift for someone special? Either way, it should be somewhere that it can be seen and enjoyed on a regular basis!

Hi Elizabeth. Shel shared your link with us in the backroom of IAE. Thanks for the mention. I like that you added the spoon and the tea bag paper and string. IS this going to be a gift for someone or brighten a wall in your home?
We are so delighted that you play with us so often.
Hugs,
Tammy
ah, the two were made for each other. Happy Tuesday!
I love that you have managed to create something unique from two separate pieces and they have gelled together so beautifully!!
