Friendship Tea

This week, as I'm having tea with Kimmie and my dear friends whose links you will find in Kimmie's comments, I will be doing the time warp, taking you back to last Friday when my friend Kathy came to spend the day and shop.

Kathy always leaves me a big bag of goodies she doesn't want. Don't get me wrong. I love her leftovers and her "hand-me-downs," but sometimes it takes longer to find storage for things than one can imagine. So at this point, I have sorted the items into (from back left to front clockwise) the following piles.

A metal container for decorating, although I will probably use it for storage instead.
Several art magazines, all of which are published by Stampington.
12" by nearly 12" white scrapbook paper, along with bits of other scrapbook paper.
A Michaels bag with my purchases still inside.
A sheet of photos of Kathy wearing her new zebra striped shirt and standing behind her new zebra style Roman shade for her craft room. If you look in the above photo, you can see she also took a photo of her zebra striped toenails. Apparently these toe inspirations are what sparked this zebra makeover in her craft room.
Another pile of papers, books, and miscellaneous goodies.

I decided I would dig out some Assam tea. I got it as part of a gift basket earlier this year and know nothing about it, except what I found on the internet. According to Wikipedia, it is a strong black tea grown near sea level in India. It is often sold as a Breakfast tea. The high temperatures and humidity needed to grow this tea would be perfect in this Kansas heat.

While Kathy and I were out on Friday, I took photos of the fish we saw in the restaurant where we ate. I should have taken photos of the tea we drank, but only thought to take these photos

right before we left. We sat directly below this fish tank that spanned two booths. Lots of glare made it difficult to get a decent photo, too.

So now you are going to ask what I bought at Michaels. I got a free instruction sheet for a wooden rocking horse I'm going to incorporate into my rocking horse AB. OK, I know! That's not all. On sale were these adorable tags that both Kathy and I bought, then we split in half after we got to her car. Mine was called Sea Glass and her was Vintage. I also bought a Sharpie poster pen, but have no idea what it will do or make, only that it was on clearance (75% off).

But the thing I bought with my 40% off coupon had me jumping up and down in the aisles, while Kathy laughed in amusement. I finally found Crayola brand Fabric crayons. I've been looking for these for months! I'm thrilled and will be using them very, very soon. I can't wait to try them and will make them my tutorial for September IF the weather cooperates.

Now all I need are some sun paints, which I might find about the time the snow flies. Have a great Tea Tuesday everyone. It has cooled down a bit since last Friday when I shot these photos, so hot tea doesn't sound so HOT now. Let's go see what everyone else is drinking today.

Only crafters and artists can understand the thrill of receiving a great stash like your friend Kathy gave you. Typical of you, you had them organized in no time and I'm sure they will be perfectly file away!

Sounds like you have a lot going on. That's great. I know what you mean...friends give me their leftovers all the time, knowing I will use it more than likely...but finding a place, that's the hard part. Have a happy tea day.

Pretty good haul!! I love Michael's- just hate that the coupons don't work for the big items - they seem to have a long list of things the coupon WON'T work for.
Drop by for tea, if you get a chance!

tomorrow there will be a very special tea on my workdesk, I did zebra stripes on my giraffe ( it doesn't work - even crazy me can see that)

I think stash swaps/donations are a wonderful thing,
and I'm sure you will find a safe space to store them whilst deciding how to make use of them,

see you tomorrow,

dx

How lovely to be gifted so many goodies to play around with. Sounds like you are always up to something creative and fun. With back to school, it is hard for me to find time for everything. Have a great rest of the week. Tammy

You're always on the go, Elizabeth!!! You are going to LOVE that Sharpie poster paint pen. They're my very faves for journaling. They write over just about anything and everything!!! It's so nice to get back to my usual routines now that summer has finished. Where did those summer months go?!? Hugs, Terri xoxo

Hi Elizabeth, what fabulous post. It sounds like you had a great time with your friend.....Kathy sounds amazing, I love that she is so into 'zebra'..... blind, shirt and toe nails all at the same time. I can't wait to see what you do with your fabric pencils. Happy Tea Tuesday. xx

Assam is a favourite of my sweet Mother In Law, it's a good solid cuppa you can stand a spoon in, she says. And she's never wrong about anything. Lov eyour purchases, particularly the Sharpie; I don't often admit to buying things just because of the % off, but I do, and often they turn out to be most useful! I really like Kathy's inspirational toenails, really had a smile over that!

Hi Elizabeth, I'm a little disappointed as I was expecting a video of you actually dancing the 'Time Warp'! haha Love the idea of Kathy's 'zebra' painted toenails :-) the tags are gorgeous. It would have been rude not to buy the Sharpie pen at that price. I too have Crayola fabric crayons which I've had for yonks (ages and ages) and have also been thinking about doing some sun print fabric.

I missed tea...darn cable company. Now I'm wading through 5 days of email..posts...etc. Good thing I cleaned the house while I was "in the dark". Without tv or computer I felt very disconnected with what may have been happening in the world.
