Normally, that would be a very realistic number of boxes. But, the way the packers
Take for instance the containers you see on the top shelf in the middle set of shelves. These could have been carefully placed in a box. Instead, the contents were dumped into the box, then the containers thrown on top or in a different box. Talk about a nightmare trying to sort things. For example, three plastic containers of never-before-opened straight pins were dumped in the bottom of a box and the contents became open and loose. Talk about 500 straight pin pick-up!
I managed to find a small unpainted wooden rocking horse for your viewing pleasure. I'm fairly certain you have not seen this one before and I set it out in the open so you didn't have to search for it.
I have made a bit of headway on this mess, but right now I'm still looking for any excuse to not have to deal with these
Don't forget to stop by Julia's because that's where so many of us go each week for What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday!

I would have my bed down there... I can't sleep if it gets past 25 degrees C so you have my utmost sympathy trying to deal with normal stuff in the heat you have been having!! Are you sure the peeps that packed your boxes weren't the same ones that did my shipment back from Saudi??? Sure?? Cos it certainly sounds like the same bunch of clowns!! Keep going... you will get there... and it will be so worth it in the end!! :)
good luck with the heat and the box packing
Elizabeth ,
I have nothing but respect for what you are going through. This must have been a nightmare. You'll be so glad when you can see your floor again, I bet.

It sounds like you have a long job ahead of you, but keep going as when its done it will look fabulous.

Well, that's too bad they made such a mess of your treasures. At least you'll know what you have! lol Hang in there!
Well I can definitely see space, progress and a craft room on the rise! Wishing you energy!
thanks for the peek today! Sarah (Sasa at 1)
Goodness what a long job but worth it in the end, wishing you well :)
Sounds a horror! I hope the next boxes you open turn out better! Patsy from

I feel for you - what you went through was bad enough without having to cope with careless packing too. Good luck!
Glad to see the box emptying is going well.

wow, you have been working hard-how you can do anything in than heat amazes me!
kyla
Good grief - those packers created havoc, didn't they? It must feel overwhelming, there's so much to sort out. One little bit at a time and you'll soon do it. Commiserations on the high temps, it must be very hard to deal with. Wishing you cooling breezes and rain :) xx
Just think how it will look when its all finished and you can sit down and get creating, Good luck, Thanks for sharing
Oh my goodness, those packers would have the pins stuck right in them if they did that to me! Were they men, by any chance? Lol! Never mind, it will be awesome when it's all finished.

I cannot believe the mess your packers made ...I dont feel they should be let get away with it all ...but what can you do. I have always packed my self for moves ...and marked the boxes...and I know this situation was different...I feel for you ...all the frustration ...the only way is slowly ...box by box ...hoping you have enough space to spread out onto. Take care in all your heat.xx
Oh Elizabeth, I really feel for you hun.
You would think that having a ‘professional’ in to do the packing for you would take the stress out of moving house and you would expect nothing short of a well-organized job but it sounds as if your experience is far from that.
Mind you having said that, it must feel like Christmas every box you open as you wait in anticipation to see what’s in the next one.
Happy WOYWW

I definitely feel your pain in the way the movers handled your things. Good luck with the rest!
No wonder you said you're off track- anyone would be! Too bad the movers wouldn't do any better job helping UNpack than they did packing!
Just keep thinking baby steps and you'll eventually get there!
Keep going. It will be worth it in the end
All those boxes. All that heat. Whew! The only good news I can think of is that the boxes are in the basement not in the living room where you have to walk around them every day.
Hope it cools off for you soon.
Darla
That's a lot of boxes. Never trust someone else to do the packing for you. Good luck with sorting things out. :)
Crikey hun, sounds like a bit of a nightmare to me. All the best

O My - that would be irritating to unpack a garbled mess. At least you're making some headway and found a place to stay cool.
You just aren't getting a break from that heat! Like I said before...at least it's a basement craft room and not in the attic.
Good luck!
Yikes... they could not have made a bigger mess if they had planned it out! 3 boxes of straight pins on the loose at the bottome of a box? Painful. But it's coming along... step by step.
Good luck with THAT!
Happy WOYWW.
Hugs, Sandra Take a peek at MY DESK here
Poor you! I really wish that the power and love of WOYWW could sweep over it all and sort it for you. I don't envy you the job or the heat. Take it easy... it will keep.
Love JoZarty x
The dumped container story is nightmarish. Who could possibly think it's okay to do that? And the straight-pin pickup...yikes! Stay cool down there!
Oh my... great good luck with THAT lot!! I am sure it will be sorted very soon...

I really feel for you xx
Oh dear Elizabeth, I think I'd be tearing my hair out by now. And to be trying to create order out of that chaos in those temperatures doesn't bear thinking about either. I've never, ever, and I've moved around 17 times, left the packing to the removal team - call me a control freak but I just like to know where everything is and that it is as securely packed as I can make it. I'm shuddering at the thought of them tipping the contents of containers into boxes willy-nilly. Hope you make some headway this week. Elizabeth x #59
Hi, thanks for sharing your desk, i'm on a mad dash round, places to go and things to see, so can't stay for a chat! Have a good week. Hope you get more unpacked too!
I'm sorry you're dealing with such miserable heat! I CAN see the progress being made! Look forward to seeing those shelves filled in the near future!

I'm not sure I'd come out of the basement with all that heat lol. Looks like things are coming together down there! Have fun with your long unseen goodies :D. #19
But, it looks like it is all coming together. We are cheering you on world wide. Imagine the discoveries you are going to come across!!
Every little step forward is a step in the right direction and some day it will all be unpacked. Easy for me to say when I am here where it is not hot and have nothing to unpack like you. Wish I had a magic wand to wave over you and everything would be done.
How's Bleubeard coping with this heat? Hope he is ok. Thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet #11
Oh Elizabeth this heat is grueling isn't it. Hope you can stay cool in the basement unpacking your boxes this week. I read the temps here were suppose to be between 105 and 109 degrees this week! I got my electric bill yesterday. A month of 100 degree and above was $500! I run the AC at 78 and I have two pool pumps that I run constantly but I was gob smacked when I opened the bill. Sorry I am so late getting around but haven't felt at all well this week. Thanks for sharing. Vickie
Hi there Elizabeth,am running late too thanks for popping over.. and wow you have been creative, so many lovely posts above this one! now those boxes and their various states of disorder make one think one should pack up one's own precious craft items so it done properly!!
I cant believe them, seems like they tried to make as much chaos on purpose! God bless,
Shaz in Oz.x
