Do you have any doubts that this is a What's On Your Workdesk on Wednesday post? In fact, it's number 106 if you've been doing this as long as Julia at Stamping Ground has. Check out her blog for the links and the reason for playing along.
Tonight (yes, it really IS night here) I'm getting ready to dye some wet wipes. The material list called for dryer sheets, but I dry my clothes on my clothesline in the summer and all my saved used dryer sheets are still in storage. So, I'm using dried out wet wipes instead.
Right now I'm soaking them in tap water to get any residue out that might be in them. Once I know the residue is out, I'll remove the water and replace it with dye ink reinkers and maybe some distress ink reinkers. I have the water all ready to go for the dyeing process, and will dye them as soon as I get rid of this water. My rocking horse today is one of two similar ones. It is completely wooden and the tail can be removed.
And if that isn't enough rocking horses this week, here is one on my stairs that I probably should have taken down and photographed on my table, since the stairs are too narrow to get a good photo.
BTW, out of nearly 70 sites I visited last week, I could only leave comments on about 15. I tried loading a different edition/version of Firefox, but that doesn't seem to help, at least it didn't yesterday. WOYWWendy is hopeful I can leave more comments today.

What an interesting idea! You'll have to show us how it turns out and how you'll use the wipes! You're back to stalking WOYWW again I see!
Numero uno!! Blimey (good olde fashioned English word that isn't quite swearing with dubious origins) - you will dye anything!! Wet wipes... well, I can't wait to see what you do with those as they are brilliantly resilient and don't shrink!!
Very interesting project!
I also had problems with leaving comments - blogger asked me the password again and again... then I emptied the cache and removed all cookies (as they told in blogger) and that helped me!
Have a nice day!

You always stir up mystery and leave us wanting to know what happens to the interesting bits and bobs on you desk....?? ??
I love to apply a heat gun to dryer sheets as some brands frazzle and fragment beautifully.
Love joZarty x
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the wipes ... Do you add the dyes to some fresh water and re-immerse?
OK. Call me ignorant but WHY are you dyeing baby wipes??
Stupid question maybe? but what will you do with the dyed wet wipes?
A x
I have no idea how to dye. Thanks for showing the process. :)
Well have done tie dying many years ago now great to see it is not a lost art and hope the commenting is good for you this week! Blogger is really causing many grief! Happy WOYWW Shaz in Oz.x
Oooh wet wipe dying, and then sewing, and then more lovely books, always a productive desk when I visit... don't worry about the comments thing, it is easy to see visitors on stats counters and It's lovely when people send an email/back link instead...
I have many psyche/id/ego issues but separation anxiety is not one of them...

Another interesting post ....I do love to see your wonderful rocking horses.
I have never dyed but had a friend ( many years ago) who dyed her own wool with things in nature and then set them ....she showed me how different mordants (if thats the word) produced different colours ...it was fascinating ...I remember saving onion skins for her.
In agreement with many of these comments, it does seem if its sits still long enough u'll dye it. I must admit to sitting at my craft desk considering my next move while stroking a dried out baby wipe, they really are soft to the touch lol
I was having real trouble with Firefox on this computer until Saturday, when Silverwolf's husband sorted it out for me. So far, things are now working well. All my photos have returned and are exactly where I placed them, and, fingers crossed, I can leave comments everywhere. I look forward to seeing the result of those baby wipes. I use boxes of those cleaning everything, including my brayer and stamps. I never thought of dying them.
ohh cant wait to see how they turn out!
Now this looks interesting, I'd never have though of using re-inkers to dye wet wipes etc, In the past I've used acid dyes but this looks so much more fun. Hope you show when complete.
Love your rocking horses I take it they are part of a collection?

awesome rocking horse! What happens with the wet wipes? I will be back to check it out! Thanks for sharing. Vickie
I would never have given it a thought to recycle my wet wipes but what a good idea. I must give it a try.
Love this week’s edition of ‘The Rocking Horse’ but I have to ask, are you getting anywhere near to running out of horses to show us. I still can’t get over the fact that we’re still seeing new ones for the first time.
Happy Crafting!

Number 1!! well done .... dyeing wipes is an interesting activity. Looking forward to seeing what amazing piece of art you will create.
The commenting thing is a bit of a nightmare at the moment! Very hit and miss I find!
Have fun with the dye work :)

A new trick for me to try, dying with re-inker's.
You always come up with great ideas.
Darla
YOu know, I've never done this before and especially with re-inkers--I'm going to try this--thanks for posting this!!
What fun..haven't colored anything for a while and didn't think of wipes. Uncheck your "stay signed in" box and comments should work. So frustrating...Have a great week and Happy WOYWW #71
We do all get up to some odd things don't we! Sounds like fun -will put it onto my list of things to try!
Thanks for sharing and contests on being No. 1

can't wait to see what you're going to do with the wet wipes - intriguing :-D
My latest dyeing project was with silk dyes in the microwave - works a treat!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with them:)
Fab Post . . . and NO. 1 too! Congrats.

Hi Elizabeth, for some strange reason I can only see your last photograph of the rocking horse - at least I got my fix for the week, but I can't see your desk at all. Reading your explanation of what you intend to do with the wet wipes is interesting so I'll try to check in again later and see the finished results. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #79
Congrats on being No. 1, that rocking Horse picture is wonderful. Shaz #96
Hello Elizabeth! Sorry that I haven't visited you in a while, but thanks for your lovely comment on my post earlier today.
I thought at first the bowl in your second photograph had some Sushi in - I know, I really should start wearing my new glasses - LOL.
Happy WOYWW to you xx

I have been keeping some of the interesting coloured Colour Run sheets I use but as yet not sure what to do with them. Want to buy some new towels now as they are the best to give you colours on the Colour Run sheets. Will be watching what you do with interest...
That's a good idea for dried out wet wipes. Why not! Waste not....want not.
what are you going to do with the wet wipes, please show them when they are done
thanks for sharing
janet
Oh, wow, dying wipes, what a brilliant idea!
I know I've seen it before, but I keep forgetting about it. When I think of all the wipes I've tossed...
Make sure to show us how they come out!
Fun rocking horses. Haven't tried dying the wet wipes but have been using the colour catcher sheets to make the odd flower. If they have caught any colour they are quite pretty and maybe I can dye the ones which haven't - I will have to have a go sometime at doing that. I too dry outside so don't have dryer sheets.

Ok, I'm dying to know. Is there any particular reason WHY the rocking horse's tail can be removed? LOL
Can't wait to see what you do with your dyed wet wipes.
Thanks for stopping by.
I knew I was keeping a tub of dried out wipes for some reason LOL
thank you for always inspiring me E!
Your rocking horse collection ROCKS...I really mean it heehee
oxo
Love your rocking horses!
Thank you for sharing and happy WOYWW!

I love how you dry the WET wipes before WETTING them again! Also nice to finally see a good use for something from Starbucks, lol! I've only seen the pink glue guns in the US, everyone in England seems to have the yellow one. I bought mine in Michaels as a Christmas present to me! I've never seen the yellow ones over here. Have a wonderful weekend, it's looking a bit wet here in Michigan, still, means more time for crafting!
Hugs

It's getting so I have to sort the useful from the truly trash :D. I might have to start using dryer sheets just so I have some to dye lol. Usually my baby wipes are pretty well dyed before I'm done with them. Maybe I should just hang them up and see what they look like next. Or set some out to dry so I can dye them :D.
oooohhhh waiting to see what you do with them.
congrats on pole position xx
