Retractions, corrections, and additions

It appears I need to change a couple of things I wrote over the course of this week. It seems I have a couple of retractions, corrections, or additions to share with you, my loyal readers who have helped "edit" my blog entries with your questions and comments.

First I said to wash the fabric and lace in VINEGAR water, which I've now corrected on my Inspiration Avenue post. You actually use VINEGAR to enhance the rusting process, especially if you plan to wrap your vinegar soaked fabric around a rusty piece, such as a pipe, then cover it in plastic. This actually makes the rusting process quicker when you use vinegar soaked fabric that you ARE NOT placing in rusty water. I guess the reason I said VINEGAR was because I had it on my mind about dyeing some fabric in drink mix and vinegar. The vinegar is used as the mordant for that process, the same as it can be when rusting fabric. You may or may not choose to use vinegar as the mordant for dyeing rusty fabric. You don't need anything except water when you allow the fabric to stand for a week in the sun and rusty pieces. However, I always use vinegar and salt when rusting paper.

As for the man in the WOYWW PiF quiltlet I showed on Wednesday, several of you suggested a Russian Czar. I suspected the image was that of a Russian, but took a wild stab at who it might be. Since I've heard several different names posted in my comments, I leave it to you to determine who he most resembles. I just know he had all the colors I needed for this quitlet.

Hmm, I didn't comment before, but that looks very similar to Czar Nicholas...

I thought it was George the V... but then he and Nicholas were first cousins and like two peas in a pod so it could be either of them!!

I thought it was George V as well and thought it terribly clever to allude to the British nationality of JD the Pif instigator..

but hen yes it could be Nicolas - the collar is more russian?

not sure how you are coping without your stash Mrs E...
