You can even see the cheery dried sweet cherry bits interspersed with this black tea. While I'm off to make a pot of this cheery cherry brew, I thought I would pass along a bit of humor and wisdom from an apparent tea affectionado, the late George Carlin.
Gotta admit, good ole' George put me in my place with my choice of today's tea. In his book, “When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops,” I stumbled upon this bit of wisdom, and just had to share. In typical Carlin fashion, he expressed his opinion about fruit-flavored teas. He had my sides aching, as I heated my water and read his take on the type of tea I'm having today!
I would like to talk to you about fruit-flavored teas. These would be teas that are flavored like fruit. Fruit-flavored teas. You need to understand that. These are not fruits. They’re teas. But they taste like fruit. All right? They have names like strawberry kiwi, lemon berry, orange mango, wild cherry, blackberry and cranberry. They taste like fruit. And they sound like fruits, too, don’t they? They’re not. They’re teas. Fruit-flavored teas. And frankly, I don’t understand this.Regardless of the type or brand of tea you are having today, please join Kimmie and all us tea drinkers whose blogs you'll find by clicking Kimmie's teacup. They will welcome you as they have me, and they will be having a cup of tea along with a good laugh. It's always fun to see what everyone is up to and what tea they are drinking. Have a great Tea Tuesday, everyone.
Personally, I’ve always been of a mind that if you’re looking for fruit flavor, if you’re genuinely interested in something that tastes like fruit, and you find yourself in the tea section, you’re probably in the wrong aisle.
My advice is, if it’s fruit flavor you’re after, play if safe, go ahead and get some fruit. I have found in my experience that fruit almost always turns out to be reliable source of fruit flavor.
Another good place you may wish to look for fruit flavor would be in fruit juice. Fruit juice is made by squeezing the juice out of the fruit. Apparently, the juice that runs out of the fruit has fruit flavor. Perhaps that’s why they call it fruit juice. It doesn’t taste like tea. For tea taste, you would need to get some tea.
So let’s sum this up: If it’s fruit flavor you want, you can’t go wrong with fruit. Or, as I’ve pointed out, fruit juice. Don’t be ordering tea. Tea has tea flavor. It’s not like fruit. It’s more like tea. If you want tea, I say order tea. That’s a different experience. It’s known as “having tea.”
Have you noticed, by the way, there are no tea-flavored fruits? Take a clue from nature.”

Hmm cherry tea, sounds good!
Sounds like a great tea. I love fruit flavored teas, although Carlin did give me a good chuckle. Happy tea day to you!
haha very funny :-) However what he didn't realise is that sometimes you want a hot drink that doesn't taste like black tea or coffee ;-) The tea sounds delicious.
Love those decorated envelopes. As for summer, well we have at least had some lovely days but interspersed with dull rainy days!

I have to say I am Carlin-esque then! Although....I reserve the right to be flaky - very cherry sounds fab as a drink..as long as, being tea, it's not too dry or unsweetened!!
THanks for the GREAT laugh. Yum, cherry tea.
Have a God Filled Day

I can only imagine what he would have to say about something being "very" cherry .... Are other cherry things "less" cherry? Anyway, I think your tea sounds YUMMY! I love love love cherry flavor .... Whether it's from a real cherry, or a cough drop makes no difference to me :)
Happy tea day!!
I love a good rant! George Carlin sure is good at them!! I don't care much for cherries so I won't be saying yum to this flavor. :)
