WOYWW: the first in 2011

Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, the first of 2011. By my account, it is # 83. I visited every desk last week, but some I couldn't comment on. Then I went back to several, after having to reboot a couple of times and forgetting where I left off. If I missed you, it was because I was unable to leave a comment.

Now for the long and short of this post.

The long is a view of my desk and sewing machine. I've changed the pad under the sewing machine because I'm trying to straighten the black one. It's been curling more and more over time, although it's wonderful because it absorbs the machine's vibrations and makes it easy for me to turn the machine when I need to thread the needle.

The short of it is my work table. I've tidied the black carousel, although it still looks a bit junky to me. Actual projects include the year long daily journal I've started working on. I first saw the project on Anne's blog, then on Gez's. I decided to join this year, although I find it really hard to get motivated and make a calendar.

Also on my table is some watercolor paper I'm trying to turn into backgrounds. Not much luck there, either.

The last thing on my table is this bag of shapes I cut from a kitchen sponge yesterday to use in my journal. I've already used the "teacup" on yesterday's journal square. Note to self: use paint, not staz-on ink for a better image!

And finally, my latest rocking horse (and adorable handmade card) came from the Lady with the Links herself, our lovely hostess Julia of Stamping Ground. Rescued from a charity shop, Julia saved this darling ornament from certain death by glitzing it up with gilding and gold. I really love it and it will be a perfect addition to my ever growing collection. Thanks so much, Julia.

Happy New Year! Lovely busy desk there and I love your new rocking horse addition! thanks for the tip about putting a sewing machine on a mat - I usually just put mine on dinner place mats which tend to stick to the dining room table (which is where I sew) - have never thought about using material before! Thanks for sharing - your blog is always so inspiring! No. 28.

Great addition to your rocking horse collection. It's so fun to collect things--after a while, you're on a search for more unique items that you collect.
I've been "purging" some old supplies in my art room. I'm glad the room is small--it really helps to keep me more organized.

I'm sure your new addition is chuffed to be surrounded by his new friends. Looks like interesting projects are on the horizon. Yes, you visited me twice as you thought last week, commented on a previous post. Have a great day. Carolxx

That rocking horse - what a good find and a nice gift from Julia :)

And yes, my new vagabond that was anonymously gifted to me? I think that's pretty special. I'm STILL overwhelmed that someone thought that much of me to give me the only thing I wanted for Christmas!

Thank you for the compliment on my V-Day tags.

Have an art-filled day today! xo

What a perfect gift from Julia. I love to think that the rocking horse was just sitting there and waiting to be rescued for you.

Hope you get the comfortable sewing machine pad back soon. The sponge stamps look as though they could keep you very busy in the meantime.

Thats a rather awesome sewing machine you have there. I tried paning in for a closer look but couldn't see what make it is. I told hubby I only needed a plain and simple one so that is exactly what I got. Trying to convince myself that I don't need to upgrade it. #87

Hi Elizabeth

Wow - you have been busy making pages, making sponges, taking arty shots of your space. Love how you've undertaken to write a journal a day this year - that is a really big committment - I admire crafters who make that kind of a committment and see it through. I bit stuck on day 3!!!

Happy New year to you anyway - take care

Love your little rocking horse. He is so cute. Thank you for your good wishes on my blog today. It means so much. I am enjoying home made chicken soup administered intravenously (in large bowls anyway). That is our family cure all and it tastes good too.

I got round everyone's last week too, but only commented on about half, comment boxes wouldn't open...or maybe that was just me being impatient! Least now I know how to get into Moy's blog, that was bugging me! You've been busy again, I'm still trying to tidy up, and then i see a challenge and have to stop so I can make a card, I'm easily side tracked! at least my Decked are down and away (yay!) Happy New Year!
