One World One Heart Event has arrived!

This post will stay on top until February 17. Please scroll down for newer posts.

Lisa Swifka, the Whimsical Bohemian, is once again hosting One World One Heart, the event that attracts visitors and participants for all over the world. If you are not already participating, feel free to click on the image below to learn more about this event that lasts from today, January 30th, through February 17.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank Lisa for all the hard work she puts into this event and has for the past four years. She has done a great deal for bringing this blogging community together, and I, for one, am very appreciative.

Now it's time to get this show started. Lisa suggested we introduce ourselves and tell all you welcome visitors who have never been here before, a bit about myself. With as many participants as I anticipate will join this year, I thought the best way to introduce myself was through my art and activities.

What you see on the table is most of what I will be giving away this year. Lisa wants us to call these "door prizes," but I prefer to think of them as "thank you gifts." After all, since you are taking your time to visit, what better way to say thank you.

As you can see, I ran out of room on the table before I ran out of gifts. I love this yearly event and have been working on these for awhile. With time at a premium since the first of the year, I still have more to make. When that is the case, I will clearly let you know.

For some reason, known only to blogger, these photos are no longer clickable. However, you should be able to see the details without enlarging them. The first FOUR numbers I pick will be for one of these wall plaques made with dried leaves and flowers, then sewn. The first person who responds after I have notified him or her on February 17 will have first pick, etc.

I had hoped to have a few more "Love" related pieces finished, but this is the only one so far. It will be the "door prize" of the next number I draw (number 5, if you are counting). This piece and the next ones are on heavy mat board, and are suitable for hanging, framing, or leaned against a wall.

Last year, my "Neighborhood Watch" house was the first to go, and it was one of the most requested. Due to its popularity, I tried to recreate it again this year. I will complete two more Neighborhood Watches before the February deadline. I will have a total of EIGHT houses in my House series. I will add the remaining ones to this post when they are complete.

(Sentiment reads: She would gladly have given up her colorful ways if only they would invite her to the party)
Once again,

each of these houses is one of a kind,

so when it has been claimed, it will be gone.

But remember, I'll be adding five more houses before the end of this event.

New this year is my bird series. There will be a total of FOUR birds in the series,

including this abstract bird.

Each of these assemblages is on thick 5. 5 inch by 8.5 inch mat board and has a decorative backing. Each bird has a rusty metal body that has been sealed, along with various "bird legs."

One final bird, already started, will complete the series.

Besides collage, sewing, and mixed media/assemblage, I love playing with beeswax. This one is on canvas and is yours if your name is the 18th one picked.

Each Tuesday I get together with a few of my blogging friends in blogland for a virtual tea break. I thought it would be nice to honor that tradition by offering 2 ounces of "Fancy Tropicana" loose leaf tea from a local tea and spice merchant.

"Door prizes" 20 through 23 will receive one of the above 8 X 10 mixed media pieces suitable for framing. To save space (because I know you are busy), I show them as a mosaic. Sadly the mosaic cropped the images. To make up for that, I will show the entire pieces around February 17. If your name is drawn for one of these four pieces, you will have your choice of these until they are all gone.

Door prize 24 recipient will receive all FOUR of these 8" X 10" birds. They are a set. The substrate for all of these is heavy mat board and all are suitable for framing. Again, the mosaic cropped the pages, which I will show in their entirety before you come to claim your prize.

"Door prizes" 25 and 26 will be one of my mixed media quiltlets.

Although the design will be similar, I only have one completed at the moment.

And finally, the "grand" prize will be one of my scrappy journals that is covered in hand dyed fabric. Originally I planned to make it specifically for the winner, but Lisa said we must send the gifts within three days of the event. Since each of these journals takes about two weeks, I will make one specifically for OWOH before the end of the event. In case you aren't familiar with them, all of the pages are decorated using scraps of paper ephemera that has been sewn onto a colored or decorative page. The journal will have 40 pages. The inside of the fabric cover will have a pocket for tags, notes, or found objects on one side, and a place to store two pens or pencils on the other. Fabric cover color and journal contents will be at my discretion.

Now for the boring administrative duties that accompany these "door prizes."

1. This event is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. You do NOT have to be a participant in this event to be eligible.

2. To be eligible for any of the above gifts/"door prizes," you must leave a comment on this post only. Although I love comments, they only count when left on this post, which will remain at the top of my blog posts through February 17.

3. I will close the comments at 2 pm on February 17. I will immediately use the random generator (random.org) and the first number drawn will receive gift number 29. I will continue until all 29 gifts have been given comment numbers/names, with the last number being the grand prize of the scrappy journal.

4. I will then notify you by leaving a message on your most current post on your blog. Alternately, if you have a blogger profile, I will notify you in an e-mail, providing it is listed on your profile page. If your profile page doesn't contain your e-mail address, or if you are not an active blogger, please include your e-mail address in your comment. I suggest using the word "at" in place of the ampersand, and the word "dot" in place of the period.

5. If I send you an e-mail, I will include the words "OWOH Winner" in the subject line.

6. Since we must mail these gifts within three days after the event, once I have notified you, you will have 48 hours to respond with your mailing address. That means I must hear from you no later than February 19.

7. Thank you for visiting and good luck!

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for stopping at my blog on the OWOH event. I get to visit so many new to me blogs and it has been eye opening. Hope you get your basement studio in working order soon, your friend- how is his mayoral run working out? I have an early, long, and frigid winter here, also. Ahh, the joys of Midwest weather...but the people are wonderful and soothe over the weather patterns.

Thanks for an entry to your drawings. Imagination and Generosity combined!
