Tea Tuesday

Here we are in the middle of December festivities, and what could be better than hot apple cider on a chilly Tuesday morning. I'm sharing it with Kimmie and the other Tea Tuesday participants found on Kimmie's sidebar.

Believe it or not, I paid a gal to make these place mats and napkins for a 12 place Christmas dinner I threw in the early 90s. I left the fabric to her discretion. I never liked them, but when I picked them up, it was too late to have others made. They don't look very "Christmas-y" to me. But the cider is hot, and I dug them out to see if I could do something with them to make them more contemporary. So far, nothing comes to mind.

Part of the fun of hot cider is the cinnamon stick that goes in each glass. Gotta love cinnamon.

Today's tea blog comes from Australia. Verity of Joie de Tea proclaims she loves and lives for tea. Her profile shows she is passionate about tea after becoming interested in herbal medicine. Although she hasn't posted in awhile, it is obvious, her blog is filled with fun tea and art related pictures. I'm sure Joie de Tea will be a great tea diversion today.

I am always up for a good challenge and when you mentioned your placemats I was thinking you could take off the binding. Then you might overlay some other fabric with cutouts so you only see a bit of the original fabric then put new binding back on. Or, throw it in a pot of dye for something totally different! Happy tea! I've already had my cup of earl grey with honey and milk.

But they do match your glasses with the holly on it. Funny. They look summery to me.

Your Christmas drink sounds so delicious..I can smell the cinnamon from here.
I popped onto your blog quickly this morning but did not have time to leave a comment.

If the place mats were mine, I might paint them with white latex paint, (in the UK...emulsion paint)and use them as blank artists' canvasses. Or, You could use them as a quilting base and stitch fabric over them, or cut one of them up into pices that could be wearable art, i.e. jewellery, (that is the UK spelling), similar to your way but slightly different. THANK GOD we are all different.

Have fun!!!

AH...I love hot apple cider! Something so soothing about it. Makes me think of being a kid and coming in **freezing** from sledding for hours. I'd sit next to the wood burning stove and sip hot apple cider.

Hot Apple Cider.....yum. Can't say I have ever tried it, but I love cold apple cider and cinnamon, so I'm sure I would love it, sounds so Chrismasy . I love the colour of your place mats, I think it is just the orange colour around the edge that is'nt so Christmas looking. Imagine if you took that binding off and replaced it with white and used all white china with silver accessories.Have a lovely Tuesday Tea. Cheers xx

How fun! Goodness blogging just rocks these days! Tea parties, giveaways, collaborations, exchanges and show and tells. What more could a person ask for in life?! I'm so glad to be a part of this merry circle of friends. Thanks for coming ion by and saying hi, Elizabeth. I hadn't realised it but when I last changed the look and layout of my blog, you fell off my Blogs I Love list. I've now remedied that, rest assured!

Believe it or not, I have never had hot apple cider, guess because I don't drink apple cider, it doesn't really like me, but the smell of that with cinnamon is awesome!
As for me, I'd cut those babies up and piece them together with something else for a fabric journal cover! You will come up with something!

It is so much fun to get a peek into your work space. The cider sounds delicious and I agree, the placemats - while pretty in themselves - don't really say Christmas to me either.
