I know that today is the day for my Inspiration Avenue Challenge, but I have not had time to make anything this week except my Christmas tip-ins, which I'm still working on. I also worked on two more covers, a few sewn pages, and my garden, which is now half cleared for spring. I had to work in the yard yesterday, because it was a balmy 5o plus degrees F and I was running around in a sleeveless outfit. The weather is supposed to be nice today also, then the bottom is supposed to fall out from under us tonight. So the garden took precedence over everything, including getting ready for my friend Kathy's visit this morning, and schmoozing with my internet friends.
Kathy, who got me started on my sewing journey by giving me the sewing machine as a combined birthday and Christmas gift two years ago, is coming to help sew covers to signatures in my books today. It's no secret, I love making the pages, I love making the covers, but hate trying to sew them together. Fidgeting with precision is not my strength, so I hope to learn a few tips today. I promise to take photos and maybe work on my IA challenge piece after she goes home tonight. I might even get caught up on a blog or two, also.
Since this is day 10, I'll be opening the box with the gold leafed letters on it.
To my surprise and enjoyment, I found these wonderful puzzle pieces inside dancing on a bed of gold netting. I wired them in place using colored craft wire.
Today's artist of choice is Kylie Stillman. For some reason, I thought I had already featured this talented artist, but couldn't find her name when I searched my blog. Kylie lives in Melbourne Australia and uses old books, reams of paper, or plywood as her canvases. If you were to look up the definition of "negative space," Kylie's art should be used as the example. Be sure to check out her stack of encyclopedias with the hanging basket and the wall of bookcases with their flying geese. I'm not going to spoil the fun anymore. Just pop over to Kylie Stillman's site today and prepare for some jaw dropping drop dead gorgeous "negative space."

I think the puzzle pieces are probably my favorites so far- I love the colors, the lettering and that golden grid (?) background. Wonderful!
I'm back! I look forward to every day of your Advent calendar. I'm amazed at the detail you fit into this one.
