What could be more fun than spending Tuesday with Wednesday Wendy?
It all started when Wendy wanted to join me while I voted. Wendy is very excited because this is the first time she's been able to vote. In fact, she wasn't even born the last time I voted. And look at her now, all grown up and ready to cast her vote for Miss Kitty as Empress of California. After all, Miss Kitty put on quite the campaign! And whether Miss Kitty and her dad Egmont win or not, we did our civic duty and rushed to cast our votes before the lines got too much longer.
Slow down, Wendy! We'll be there soon. It won't be long now.
Wendy got up close and personal as the attendant punched in the code that allowed us to vote. I have to admit, he was a very good sport about it, too! The only vote Wendy wanted to cast was for Miss Kitty, so her job was finished and her vote was cast much quicker than mine.
After we voted, we were about to leave, when the gal at the door handed me a sticker. When I told her that Wendy had also voted, she gladly gave Wendy a sticker, too.
After a few stops, Wendy and I headed for our friend Dana's.
Wendy spied a pumpkin and gently reminded me that I had not carved the one I bought nearly four weeks ago! Since this was about the only pumpkin celebration Wendy was going to get this year, she insisted she be allowed to have her photo taken with the only uncarved pumpkin she could find. Dana had decorated her house, inside and out with carved pumpkins, but Wendy was content with the only one that had not made the cut (so to speak).
Many of you have asked me to feature Wendy and Bleubeard more often on my blog. Wendy is MUCH easier to photograph than Bleubeard. I just hope you enjoyed your day out with Wendy. I'm off to work on those journal covers. I finally auditioned fabric for the covers, ironed the pieces I tore from old clothes (who irons when it's not for crafts??), only to realize I was nearly out of thread.
So yesterday, I made several stops and finally bought one spool of white thread at the local Singer store. I tried the thrift store first, because I knew thread was expensive at the Singer store. That was only because I didn't want to take time to drive all the way across town to one of the hobby or fabric stores. Now I'm off to see if I can dye the white thread and try to work on the journal covers fronts and backs. My plan is to make the fronts and backs and put them together today, then sew the signatures in tomorrow. However, I learned I don't have as many signatures as I thought because I put so many pages in each book. If I'm lucky and sew a few more signatures, I may finish four or five, but six turned out to be too many, but only because I didn't have as many pages finished as I thought. They looked like so many more in the
envelope, but as you can see, I only have 3 sets of two signatures (two signatures make ONE book) and one 1 signature for the fourth set. What you are looking at are the equivalent of 336 completed pages, plus a few loose ones that aren't enough for another signature which ends up being 48 pages. So I'm off to put the pedal (sewing machine) to the metal (actually an anti-static mat). Have a lovely Thursday everyone!
Today's blog belongs to Olive, who I originally met during WOYWW. When she invited me to visit her blog during Tea Tuesday, I simply couldn't refuse and loved what I saw when I went. Not only did I enjoy her blog, I love the name of it: Paraphernalia. Not for the reason I picked her blog, but as an aside, Olive is also having a giveaway until Nov 6. And you KNOW it is my kind, the kind that simply asks you to leave a comment. So be sure to check out Olive's Paraphernalia today.

Wow. You really are making good progress with those journals. Can't wait for you to show them finished.
Aren't you lucky having a Singer store within reach? I wish we did. I could perhaps get replacement bits for my 70 old machine then.
I'm splashing paint and spreading gesso for pages. oooh, you have how many? hmm, 'kay, it's back to work, well, play for me!
Hi Elizabeth, Oh that Wendy sure likes to get in on the act hehe It's great that the people at the polling station joined in your bit of fun :-)
Looking at the pages in the envelope you'd think there were more than enough - can't wait to see the journals completed.
Hope you've had a good day ;-)

Good luck with your journals Elizabeth.
I'm delighted to meet Wendy and happy to hear she voted. Hope to see more of her adventures in the future.
Now, you get back to those journals :-)

GREAT post, and I'm so glad you're feeling better- I can "hear" it in your voice! I love the photos of Wendy and the image of your signatures is really pretty with all those colorful threads. Can't wait to see the finished results!
Greetings dear Elizabeth and Bleubeard,
Dad is getting a couple of paw slaps because he was so busy in the garden yesterday that he did not get around to visiting any blogs. He as also very sad because Christiane lost Igor, who crossed over the rainbow bridge, causing dad to be sad and lose all interest. (http://bit.ly/cpyJ7o) He's still a little down.
Anyway, we both enjoyed this post of yours and thank you for mentioning my run for Empress of California.
Wishing youall the best,
Miss Kitty and Egmont
Loved getting to see Wendy's outing, and the signatures, wow, so many, it is amazing. Since I am only an hour east of Wichita, I will remember that a Singer shop is there. That will be handy! Thanks for the wonderful post.
