Tea for two on Tuesday

Tea enjoyed with a friend is always fun.

Although we didn't use this tea pot, it really is very unique. I understand it is handmade, too, with such lovely and fine details. While I never got a good or clear photo of it, I still loved the rich beauty and superior detail of the piece.

If you had your choice, which one of these would you prefer to drink from?

I could have used this lovely cup and saucer with the lovely hand painted lilies, but since I'm not a pink gal,

I decided on the gorgeous blue cup with the scalloped handle, delicate design, and lovely matching saucer. I was almost afraid to pick this beauty up for fear of dropping it. Sorry these are so grainy, but the lighting was what I would call dark ambient.

As a weather update, when I got home yesterday evening, it was 108F and over 100F in my office, since I left the AC off. We broke the record, which was 106F in 1970. We may even break it again today.

In case you are wondering about this post(and rather poorly photographed tea cups, Kimmie and a bunch of us gals get together each Tuesday and drink tea. You can find the links on Kimmie's sidebar. I have been a proud member of this group of mostly mixed media artists for 20 weeks. I have made many new friends as a result and have become exposed to some really fascinating information about tea, along with some pretty awesome art. Although Kimmie has gone on vacation (holiday) this week, feel free to pop by none-the-less.

However, if you really love and collect tea cups (and saucers), but aren't into drinking tea at least once a week, then you might enjoy another recently formed group, called Tea Cup Tuesday, run by Martha and Terri. This group shows their tea breakables finery each week, along with stories of how they were acquired and information on the markings found on the cup and saucer bottoms. It didn't even occur to me to flip that lovely blue and gold saucer (or cup) over to learn its history or origin.

Now whether you're a "serial collector" or just enjoy photos from the 40s and 50s, today's blog of the day will make you smile. It is a diversion from tea blogs, but is very informative. Vintage Vending is chock full of collectible vending machines, vintage gasoline pumps, signs, cups and saucers, juke boxes, advertising and manufacturing photos, and other what generally appears to be distinctly American memorabilia. So if you want to take a trip down American vending machine memory lane, be sure to check out Vintage Vending today. And have an awesome Tea Tuesday.

In that I'm not a "pink gal" either, I'd go for the blue cup as well- beautiful and the handle really sets the whole thing off!

I love your friends large brown teapot. I can imagine using it as a focal point, as you probably did, with fancy tea cups, all different, surrounding it.

I love both of the tea cups, however; I prefer ones with handles large enough to get your finger through comfortably. I can be clumsy and would not want to break a beautiful cup.

I may have to join you gals for tea on Tuesdays sometime soon since you make it so inviting Elizaeth.

Time for tea already? To join I only need to drink it once a week! That's doable. But it'll have to be a paper cup, yuk, as I'm off to the city. Hot here, too! Oh, I like that blue handle and that teapot is way too cute!

both cups are really lovely and tea or any other drink would taste just a little more special in them I'm sure

sounds like you needed lots of ice for your tea for two ... "they" tell us you'll be sending some of that heat to us on the east coast soon.

take care my friend and try and stay cool too!

Not into drinking tea once a week - unthinkable! I have aoubt 6 cups a day, or rather mugs ;-)
Fabulous teapot Elizabeth. And though I am a pink gal, I prefer the other beautiful cup - mine's medium strength, not toooo much milk (semi-skimmed), and no sugar please.

Oooh I love tea, I have about 10 cups per day. Shame I don't have beautiful cups like those to drink them from. I would choose the blue one, the handle is gorgeous. I'm with Anne, not too much milk. Can't believe that teapot, how fantastic, so much detail in such a small space, unbelievable. Your days out are always so interesting and you go to some lovely places. See you tomorrow. Ohhhh, so pretty! I fell in love with the blue cup, but either would be lovely. So sorry to hear that you're experiencing yet another heatwave. They've been relentless this year, and I know that your current heat is in our future here on the East Coast. Think cool thoughts, Elizabeth! Hugs, Terri xoxo
