It feels like Monday

Why does it feel like Monday? I have a list of projects that must get finished this week, and another list I must at least start on. The projects, obligations, and responsibilities are already starting to stack up. I have so many things half finished, partly finished, barely started, or put on the back burner, that I now must get serious. It's the way the week must go. And then, Blogger has been down most of the day, so here I am, posting late.

I want to put the backlink issue to rest, although some of you seem genuinely interested in it. Here is information from a site that is selling a product that will TRACK links for you. I'm not sharing the name of the product, just a piece of the information I am quoting from their site. I personally think this explains the PURPOSE of backlinks better than any information Blogger provided. The target audience is any blogger looking to increase his/her stats, thus getting a higher ranking in search engines.

Without a reasonable amount of links pointing to your site, it is difficult to get ranked by the search engines. So does that mean that the more links you have the better your search engines ranking? No!

The rules of the search engines have changed. Not only do you need more links, you need related links.

Related links are links coming from a site that is related to what your site is all about. A related link is worth more weight than links coming from a non-related site.

For example, if you have a site about dog training, you will need to set up links from other sites that are related to dogs, rather than having links from sites related to cars. There are link building software that can help you get many of this kind of links. Hence, you need automated tools that will help you find appropriate blogs.

And thus goes the pitch to buy this guy's software that will put YOUR blog link on every related blog in the universe using a single and simple form. Hope that helps. It sure answered a lot of my questions that Blogger sidestepped.

Now, I wanted to share a couple of photos I took Saturday when I went to the Wichita Art Museum (WAM). I spent that time recharging my batteries, getting away from the computer, and enjoying art again. Luckily (for everyone), my camera batteries died about the time I was taking my first shot at the museum. I knew I wanted to spend the entire day there, which I ended up doing, so grabbed the Kodak Zi6 camera my friend Scott gave me for my birthday. I keep it as a backup and boy am I glad I did.

I've tried the "tulip" setting on my other camera, and it just doesn't work. But look at what the Zi6 did.

then out just a bit. I was thrilled when I got home and found these were in perfect focus. The detail is incredible, too. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did when I removed them from the memory card. BTW, I only was able to walk the grounds and visit the first floor of WAM in nearly six hours on Saturday. There is so much to see and take in, I could never take photos of all of their collection. But, I tried! I plan to go back sometime next month and see what I missed on the second floor, including the gift shop. For now, enjoy the flower that made me realize I can take good photos when I use a good camera. Unfortunately, I have to save the photos at very low resolution due to Blogger memory limitations.

I suspect many of you know that you can search for just about anything on the internet. I don't search using google, but use other search engines, the reason which I will share with you one of these days. For now, I don't want to get distracted and off topic, so back to the point: searching for a painting blog. As soon as I found Kellie Marian Hill's blog, aptly called One Painting a Day, I knew I had found the blog I wanted to feature today. Kellie lives in North Carolina in the eastern US.

Those of you who have been around a long time, know I can't draw, I can't even shade pictures from magazines, and I even had my art friend Dana draw me a snowman (yep 3 ovals) last year. Just because I can't draw doesn't mean I don't appreciate those who do. And Kellie's art fits in nicely with yesterday's Silent Sunday blog post. Her paintings display realism, yet some contain abstract elements. Many paintings are about everyday life and "simple" items you might find in your own home.
