A day of catching my breath

Thursday night my beloved Lakers won for the 16th time in their bid for NBA champions. I've been a huge fan since the early 80s (1982) when Pat Riley took over as head coach of the team. At that time, the Sacramento Kings were actually the Kansas City Kings. When the Lakers came to town, especially during the playoffs, I would travel to KC to see them. I even have a pennant with many of their names signed on it. And yes, I got each of the names myself.

My favorite story about the Lakers is when I met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I walked up to the table to meet him. He bent down, placed his hands on the table, and he was still the tallest man I had ever met. You don't realize how tall these guys are until you meet them up close and personal. I got to see them play at the Forum, but have never seen them play at Staples Center.

Thursday night was a blur to me. I was working hard to finish my swaps and such and totally spaced off what day it was. Luckily, I was able to see the highlights on the internet last night. I was saddened that I missed the game, but would have been crushed if they had lost. Fortunately, I can hold my head high and once again proclaim what winners they are.

Switching gears, I wanted to show I took my sewing machine apart Tuesday morning. I was glad I did, because there was a lot of fuzz in this part of the machine as well as a needle I dropped in it when I tried to replace the broken one.

This poor thing looks like it fell over and died. I'm so glad I had the book to guide me through reviving it.

Next, I oiled everything. It's a good thing these bottles come with such long nozzles, or I would not have reached the parts I needed to oil.

Once it was all back together with its new needle and fuzz free bobbin area,

Sally and I went to JoAnns for thread on the way to lunch. Sally fell in love with Wendy, and wanted to wear her. I was shocked that she took to this art doll so quickly and totally.

Today's blog belongs to Jean, one of the Tuesday Tea gals. I was sure I had featured her before, but couldn't find a reference. Jean's blog, Bluebirds Living in the Meadow is a true delight for mixed media artists. Her paintings, collages, and colorful art make her the perfect choice today. You will love her blog and I will have a chance to catch up on what others are saying in blogland.

LOL - I did when I saw they won and thought of you lamenting the other day that they had lost. Wendy looks so comfy on Sally! You just reminded me I DO need to get JoAnns too. I need to get some thread since I am sewing more and more on paper! Have a great Sunday. Harley and I are headed out to TaCo Bell..... whoop!

Boy I wish I had taken the time to clean and maintain my old Singer...cause I burnt my motor out! So sad...I used the machine for over 20 years and never cleaned/oiled it. Actually...so bad! Have a great day! Fondly, Roberta
