I'm trying to finish my Hands AB while working on another project, and here are two more spreads I made between blog hops. And today I will be visiting my friend Kathy as we celebrate my belated birthday at her home in another city. My friend Dana, who I helped with her recent move, has stopped unpacking and will be joining us. Double click all images for a better view.
The full two page spread started with some of my hand painted deli paper for the background. For the left side, I made a tag pocket from a brown paper bag to hold the two X-ray tags. While I had the transparency out, I made the X-ray band around the pocket, as well as two strips of the word "hands" printed vertically. One is cut off in the scan. I created a window for one of the skeletal hands and positioned it over the image on the inside.
I tried to scan the skeletal tags by placing them on top of the tag holder, but I didn't scan them in the right position.
Here is the inside of the window, showing the magazine image of a hand that fit nicely behind the skeleton. I used the saying "hand of time" on the outside (see first picture) and a Tim Holtz mask for the background on the inside.
I feel so bad that I haven't had time to visit many WOYWW participants this week. And it has gotten even more popular with around 125 participants this week. But I will get to everyone, even if I have to hire a personal assistant (grin). And I promised to show what was in the packages, but I simply didn't have time to get pictures taken. Again, anyone see my need for a personal assistant.
Today's blog is a new friend who actually found me. The owner's name is Mollye, a retiree from LA. She has a great sense of humor, a fantastic perspective on life, and makes art like you wouldn't believe. She is a true mixed media artist, and I am delighted to see she has joined the Dress Up 2010 project, too. And if you want some introspection, read about Mollye's experiences with bullies. It makes my heart ache that there are people like that in the world. Of course, once you see her lovely art, you will know she is very well adjusted, and loves life and blogging. So be sure to visit Down Home with Miz Mollye today.

WOW...this is great and you actually have an x-ray of your hand! I went for a complete body x-ray once & asked if I could have it and the doctor gave me such a funny look I backed down before he sent me to the mental ward hahahaha XXX
Wow, I love these, Elizabeth--have a fun day!
Great spread! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with a lot of laughter! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Very cool pages. Have a fun time on your playdate!

Great pages, lots of depth, the hand xray intrigues me ... can't quite read the words on each finger
oxo

Love all the details and intricacies of these pages!
Wow, what an interesting project!
These pages are fantastic. I wanted to be an x-ray tech when I was a kid. I dislocated my arch (ouch) and loved the x-rays. After that I kept going to visit mom at the hospital (she was a nurse) and asking to see more x-rays. I think x-ray techs are really awesome people. They see inside things....oooohhhhhhh!!!! LOL! I'm tired, can you tell!
This is so cool! And if you do find an assistant to help you, please give her my name. Maybe we could job share?
i love this journal and that you are basing it on something so unusual.....I really like it!
Elizabeth - I really love this layout and did click to see the larger view which was fantastic! I love the background paper underneath the x-ray hand - in fact I love it all. So intiguing, Elizabeth. . . You are the ONE! : )
