More Hand sewing

I'm so far behind, I might be late for my own funeral one of these days. In fact, I just opened my Juno e-mail for the first time in about a month. Now I'll spend much of the day answering messages and visiting blogs. I promise to visit my dear friends and answer messages sooner rather than later. Until then, let's walk down memory lane.

Remember this? I color coordinated both sides. What was I thinking?

When sewed into a signature, this is what happened.

And this. Lesson learned: Don't even bother color coordinating a full page. You won't be able to predict where each side ends up unless you spend a ton of time during the assembly process.

With that lesson in mind, here is my latest spread, front and back. Note the hand on the right. It is a flip card from some teaching game.

Can you see how the back of the flip card shows through the thin plastic/vellum like paper I've been using to make these pages? You may have to enlarge the image to see it. Note the turquoise ink blots toward the top of the page, both left and right. It is a my "Inspire" stamp. I can't use dye ink on these pages because they are so slick. I must use only solvent based (Staz-on). The "hand" tag/arrow in the lower right is a piece of leather I cut using my Sizzex.

I enclosed a small bookmark in the pocket on this page. It's nice to have so many different "handy" pockets.

Today's blog is one I found during OWOH. I have no idea what the owner's name is, but her blog is called Fenland Textile Studio. She is a teacher and another UK (England) artist who works in textiles and fibers. Be sure to check out her snow dyeing and other fun posts.

Elizabeth, your book is amazing - it's something you can really be proud of! And that 'hand' tag cut with your Sizzix is amazing. I've never tried leather in mine, but now I think I'm willing to give it a whirl! I hope that you and Bleubeard have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I really like these pages. I am chuckling about the best laid plans of mice and men? or is that men or whatever it is! I would do what you did ... no telling what I would have done to try and "fix" it - you know me too well. Love the way this book is coming along. Have a great evening.

I love all the pockets...every hand needs a pocket or two to hide away in.....
