My calendar pages are below. I also want to say a few words about our political climate. If you are not interested, I definitely won't feel bad. Please know, these beliefs are my own.
Let me begin by saying the defendant, Mr. Trump is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Although there are four indictments, I only want to talk about the Peaceful Transition of Power.
This is a big deal when it comes to changing presidents. Congress on both sides of the aisle are invited to bring their families to the event. It may be the only time the families get to see where their family member works. That was the case on January 6, 2021. Many saw how scared some of the members of Congress were, but others were huddled with their families, hoping to keep them safe.
Then VP, Mike Pence had a security team comprised of Secret Service agents that barely got him and his family to safety in time before the mob overtook him on the Senate floor. Nancy Pelosi, then Speaker of the House, had her own security force. She believed she was never in any danger. Her daughter even filmed much of what was going on where she and her family were secluded. That is because she was evacuated entirely from the Capitol complex to a secure off-site location. On the other hand, Pelosi's frightened staff hid under a table in an inner conference room.
Many young children, visitors to the Capitol for the first time, were severely traumatized from the events of that day. Young staffers, many volunteers, were also traumatized. Most had to shelter in place in fear for their lives, similar to Pelosi's staff.
The senate was evacuated after the initial attack, but the House was still in session. They were trapped inside the chamber and unable to leave. They were told to remove their congressional pins and hide under chamber seats.
In the past few days, the news media have interviewed members of the Capitol police and others who were traumatized or permanently disabled from the attack. However, please don't forget there were staffers, young children, and youth there that day who have a very different idea of what Peaceful Transition of Power means to them.
Thanks for sticking with me. I felt I just had to write how this has affected me.

...ah, these peaceful tourist who came to see statues, what BS!
Nice calendar. I noticed it is all about what you blog. So I'm curious, do you keep a separate calendar for appointments. And yes, you are innocent until proven guilty. But seeing this was all televised, including the defendant's rallying cry, I think most folks have a strong opinion about this. And I agree, those children, who don't really know better, might now be scarred for life. Hugs-Erika
Nice calendar pages
LOvely calendar pages! I agree 100 percent with what you say. People who incite others to carry out a heinous crime are as guilty as those who carried out the 'suggestions' to put it mildly. And it's all on TV. How can this man deny it? I hope and pray that he will be brought to justice, along with all the others who took part! Hugs, Valerie
I don't even see what is political about simply stating the truth, as you have done. In fact, the truth has been treated so cynically by the guilty parties, that their lies are one of the biggest crimes that took place both that day and subsequently. The evidence that the President of the United States incited the riot is now in court, and it's overwhelming -- a point that you made indirectly here.
I know you have some very bigoted and self-deluded readers who might try to present the lies here, if they have the nerve. But lies are lies.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I love your calendars - though they make me feel tired just looking at them.
A peaceful transition is a big part of what makes a democracy. And that wasn't.
One calendar page complete and one full of possibilities
I pray for consequences.
I like your different calendar-approach :-)
Well, I do hope very much the orange baby has to take responsibility for this. It was shown he encouraged the mob. Can he buy himself out again?
He is on TV-news here often. So media can hide the problems we have inside Germany.
Media anywhere are the same, I think.
It is ridiculous in my eyes with what Trump gets away again and again and again.
Speaking of... Sad you only have a short period for your presidents. But then Merkel forever was not good at all, either. Let´s see how long smurf Scholz will stay...
I don´t say I might do a better job, but our politicians here are... to run away from this country (yes, we do have good things, too).
Nice calendar pages. Its good to be aware of what's happening in someone else's country. Thanks for sharing
Happy Sunday
Much💖love
Our lives are so quiet here!
I must say my husband was traumatized from the event. Just watching on TV. He is a Canadian political junkie, and find that law and order is lacking. He couldn't watch the occupation of Ottawa, either. There was a motorcycle convoy through Ottawa Saturday, but the police were prepared this time.
So, I can understand how families were affected. It really is shameful what happened.
First of all I love your calendar Journal pages - they always look so colourful when completed. Second - sometimes we watch what's going on and think we must have missed something - apparently not!! Hugs, Chrisx
I'm still traumatized by January 6 and I couldn't agree with you more about this. And, it's your blog. Say as you like. Anyone who watched this or watched the hearings knows this was no peaceful protest.
Wow-good for you. I have wanted to blog about this stuff for a long time. I do not understand how Trump keeps slipping through the system. I also don't get it why so many actually want to re-elect him. Even ignoring all the political crimes he has committed-look at his vindictive and ego-centric personality. Please wake up, America.
Your calendar pages are so pretty and neat, Elizabeth. Mine are a scribbled mess, and I get stressed if I don't have any blanks days. I never thought I would ever see something like January 6 in America. I am really worried about our constitution and freedoms being destroyed. You raised a valid point that I haven't seen raised enough: All the families and children of Congress who were visiting and who were traumatized. The peaceful transfer of power is the true test of democracy around the world. It was devastating to see the opposite during the 2020 election. You are kinder and calmer than I am regarding the innocent-until-proven-guilty Mr. Trump. My Congressman, Jason Crow, was one of the people trapped in the House Gallery, and there is a well-known photo of him covering a female colleague when rioters were trying to break into the House Chamber. They were trapped and prepared to fight and fearing the worst. He is my hero, whom I met before he ran for Congress. He's a decorated former army ranger who did 3 tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. What I focus on when I remember January 6 is the many brave people who did their job and helped others survive. Another person I think of is Eugene Goodman, the black Capitol Police Officer who diverted rioters from the Senate. The rioters are being held accountable and hopefully Mr. Trump will be too.
I'm always glad to see people speak out on this issue. We've always been proud of our collegial way of managing our post-election transfers of power. No more. Now it's not something we can say is assured. And trump is continuing to threaten people. It's scary!
Thank you for addressing an issue so many don't want to blog about.
A lovely start to the month of 'August for you to write in daily.
Thank you for taking the time to write your feelings down for us all. I can only say that the news we are receiving over here is frightening. Presidency of your country has implications on the whole world and I an only pray that the outcome is of peace.
