T Stands For Total Chaos

One day when my friend Joseph was here, we ordered take out at one of my (at the time) favorite Mexican restaurants.  I insisted on paying and let the boys order what they wanted.  Each meal should have contained a main dish, beans, rice, a bag of homemade chips, and both mild and hot sauces.

Apparently that was too much to ask the waitress who took the order.  Or maybe it was the boys, each giving their orders while acting silly and weird.  I ordered the chili relleno and Ari ordered a cheese enchilada.  However, when the meals were being passed out, instead of getting two chilies, I got one chili and one enchilada.  I was also charged for the two chili meal and the full enchilada meal.  We were already home when I discovered the mistake and the excessive dollar amount I had been charged.

We were all supposed to get beans and rice, but we got one communal container of these, along with one container of hot and one container of mild sauce.  The chips were all in a single bag, too, so the boys grabbed handfuls and ran through the kitchen to the dining room table with their chips in tow.

I hate to admit how upset I was, but I realized I had to let it go, because I don't get to see my friend that often.  I was very proud of the boys, though.  They drank water and actually like it.  Joseph tried to keep them off sugar as much as possible.

It's now time to share your own drink related post this week.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

Sorry your take out wasn't as it should have been, and that you were charged too much. But your visitors enjoyed it, so that was good. Have a nice afternoon/evening, it's bed time here. Hugs, Valerie

Shame about the mix-up with your order ...

Enjoy the week ahead.

All the best Jan

Your reaction -- being very bothered -- is exactly the same as what mine would be. I can't stand that kind of treatment, whether it's a mistake or out-and-out cheating. I hope you will have better luck in the future.

The last time we had take out from our favorite Mexican restaurant neither of the meals in our take out bag were what we ordered. We each wanted fajita salads and we got fajitas, not salads. And like you, by the time we got home and opened the bag it was too far to go back and get it fixed. I get your pain. You were right to let it go and not ruin that part of the visit though. Hope next time you get take out from some place it is the right thing. Happy T day. hugs-Erika

With the high cost of everything it is frustrating when things are scimped on or wrong. Hubby ran into something similar this weekend. Glad you could move on fast and enjoy your friend, Elizabeth. Happy T=day. Hugz

What a disappointment! I hope the company made up for this big time. I think restaurants and take-out places are hopelessly understaffed since they don't find enough employees now and staff is probably exhausted. I certainly wouldn't want to work there (and get poorly paid on top of it). Still, such a mistake is incredibly annoying.

I hope you called them up and told them what happened. Such a shame. Glad they had a good time anyways. :)

I am sorry about your bad experience. I know how difficult it is to let something go like that, too. Because I just had a similar experience but not with food. At Michael’s, I used a 40% off coupon on one thing , and had buy one get another half price on 2 sets of items. I don’t know what they did, because when I got home, I figured they did it wrong and I paid 2.50 plus tax more than I should have. Maddening! My husband says let it go! It would have cost more gas than it was worth to go back! LOL. Have I let go of it yet?
Happy T Day, Elizabeth!

Sigh. Those sort of errors irritate me too - perhaps more than they should.
I am glad that you had a wonderful visit though.

Friends are who counts.
Sad about your food. And money. Our only good Mexican Restaurant (Three Amigos) left years ago.
I think we need to learn how to do that ourselves?

Oh what a shame, it's so frustrating when that happens and you only discover it too late. It reminded me of a scene from the Lethal Weapon movie where Joe Pesci got very upset about his drive-through meal for the same reasons. Elle

I's really good of you to just 'let it go'. Not easy. I think we would all be angry and frustrated, but it would have spoilt your time together and that was the main thing after all. The boys sound like they had a good time anyway.
The only mexican food I have ever had is what my mexican friend makes us sometimes. I think it tastes very good (but looks disgusting.)
I spotted your nice blessed mug! You are blessed.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

What a shame :( We've had orders go wrong before but never _that_ wrong. :(

It is so irritating when an order is not only wrong, seriously wrong, but you paid extra for less food! No fair!

I would have done the same as you, except I would have called and let the restaurant know how disappointed you were with them and perhaps they would give you a credit, especially since things were overcharged. (And short of food.) They should know what their staff are doing when they mess up and if you still have your receipt, that would be helpful. Share this blog post with them! And I would also mention it on Trip Advisor in the restaurant reviews. Managers pay close attention to them.

Love your Mexican food choices, shame about the order though so annoying for them to get it so wrong and over charge you too! It must have been lovely to see Joseph and the boys, that more than makes up for it 😀. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

Bummer about the food, but fortunately kids make the best of everything.

sorry you had such a time with this order Elizabeth; one would think
restaurants would be more "customer" conscious, especially know, what with 99% of them suffering a loss of revenue... I'm sure.

my mom went out with friends on friday; to a "favorite" and came back
stating she'd never go there again....poor service, the place wasn't very clean and the food was terrible~~~~

such a shame ~~~~

I get really annoyed when I get an order wrong. I hope you followed up with the restaurant after your guests left.

I'm late to the party as we went on an overnight trip.

I am truly sorry about your order and the price. I am not one for letting things go. I would still call and speak to the manager about what happened. I worked in the restaurant business too many years to know that this was not right. I am glad you got to visit with Joseph and the boys.
