Today I'm Inspired By recipes. I'm also sharing them with our hosts Erika, aka BioArtGal and Chris, aka Pearshapedcrafting at Art Journal Journey.
If nothing else, this is a very colorful journal page. It looks a lot like a rainbow to me, too. Therefore, I'm joining the lovely ladies at Try it on Tuesday, too, since their theme this fortnight is Make a Rainbow.
For this page, I started as 110 lb cardstock, I first colored the background using watercolors. I then removed recipes from a freebie cookbook I got in the early 1990s. Each recipe's color or colors was based on the ingredients in the recipe.
This is Day 16 of 22, and I repurposed recipes from an old free cookbook, originally sent to me when I was the President of my neighborhood association. The company hoped I would approve this as a fundraising program. Needless to say, I didn't recommend it to the committee. It is, however, great art fodder. Thank you ever so much for joining Bleubeard and me today as we keep a few things out of the trash or recycle bin. We also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take of Inspired By and Try it on Tuesday with your interpretation of Make a Rainbow.

I am a fan of rainbows but will pass on most of the recipes.
Hooray for repurposing though.
That's a fun idea to make a journal page from recipes. And thanks for joining us at TIOT, too, much appreciated. Have a wonderful day, take care, hugs, Valerie
Such a fun page! Then recycled recipes in the rainbow colours look fabulous 😁. I hope you've had a lovely week, wishing you a happy Friday and weekend! Hugs, Jo x
... Thanks so much for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday too! Jo x
Fabulous and fun x
Waldorf Salad with marshmellows?!
Fun idea, love the concept with the recipes.
Mmm, good! What a wonderful way to share recipes! Thanks.
The bourbon sweet potatoes sound pretty yummy. I also know what a waldork salad is, but never had one. It might be worth trying this summer. And I like how you recycled and created a rainbow too . Thanks for sharing with us at TIOT for the rainbow and this is also perfect for AJJ and Inspired by also. Hope you're having a good Friday. Rain mixed with snow here right now, but hoping nothing accumulates. Hugs-Erika
I love how you used these 'unusual' recipes for your page! I rather fancy the dressing for the pasta and pepper salad but I prefer my Waldorf salad without marshmallows!! Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday, Chrisx
Fun idea and would make a great cover for a cookbook.
I've had Waldorf salad, but like you say... NO Miracle Whip lol Old recipes can be fun to try.
oh "E" these all sound delicious and it's been ages since I did a Waldorf Salad .... oh and they look lovely also!
It IS a rainbow! And all the recipes look just delicious!
Happy weekend, my friend. I hope it's a good one!
A rainbow of recipes!
Have a great weekend! :)
I love how the washes on the recipe cards evoke the color of the dishes! So clever.
What a super idea Elizabeth so many recipes out there that help spice up our meal times, each one reads great to me especially as i've not had breakfast yet making my tummy rumble hee hee.. My Great granny used to have a book where she hand wrote recipes, she was an amazing cook. I often wonder what ever happened to that recipe book. Keep hold of those pages!!
Hugs Tracey xx
Great idea Elizabeth - I have to say the only thing I’d eat on this list is the cake. :) I am a very picky (discerning?) eater and don’t eat any vinegar, so I eat green salad with no dressing, which most people call boring, but I call delicious!
A brilliant idea! I love those colourful recipes Elizabeth.
Happy weekend,
Alison xx
Ooohhhh this is brilliant! I love having those recipes in art. Love it.
My Mom made the waldorf salad - I think I may make one soon but with Kraft Mayo as I am not a Miracle Whip lover. My favorite was actually the pasta salad with shrimp - I may try that one. I am still a cookbook lover.
I love this idea and I love that you did the colors to match the ingredients. Very fun, Elizabeth. Hugz
