Marlynn's pages for me in the 6 player swap

Perhaps I should have shown my gorgeous pages first, but I simply had to show everything Marlynn of Honeysuckle Breeze sent along with my rusty pages.

Lots of gifts came my way, including an NRA tee shirt, which I am probably wearing right about now, or possibly even sooner on this trip. Somehow I managed to exclude the NRA insignia on the front and the back, but I assure you, it is there.

I also received a lot of bits of fabric for my scrappy journals, which I seem to have covered with the white lace on the table. Other gifts include chili powder, lemonade mix, and some "Novel" tea. There is a book that will keep me company when I can't sleep, and a full can of mostly rusty goodies to use in art. Many of these are already rusted, so all the hard work has been done for me.

And in case you are wondering, this post was pre-planned.

Although I have numbered these pages for scanning purposes, they are not necessarily the way Marlynn would have numbered them. I am totally in love with these pages. All four are perfect in every way. Marlynn stayed with her ideas and ideals, and kept these pages truly HER style. And YES, I love them. Take a close look at the little girl riding in the "car." This is a perfect melding of a digital image and stunning gears.

But that's certainly not all there is to see on this page. From the bird chasing the little boy with the eyeglass to the gear layered on the compass face, this piece speaks to me. The little boy whose face is held behind a glass watch face looks out past the sardine key, proud of some accomplishment, I'm sure. All are held in place by a stunning row of glass beads on ribbon. This is one marvelous spread.

On this side, the first thing I noticed was the blue and white pillow ticking. Then I saw the "handsome" man sewn to the page. Of course, the lace sewn over the burlap was also a thing of interest. It was all held together by a rusted tie clasp that had my heart going pitter-patter. And I could not forget the other pieces attached to this beauty, which included the green leaf, the wonderful old ledger paper, and the transparency sewn to a piece of book page, that was then attached to the spread using an "old" safety pin. And whether you can see it or not, the paper behind the lace has been colored with copper. Yep, I'm truly in love with this page.

For my second spread, Marlynn rusted a large safety pin, then added an old key to the sheet music which has been sewn on the page. Complimenting this are a man and woman kissing, being held in place by what I believe are hair pins of some kind. These are laid over a sewn page that also holds a rusty heart. Now how much better could that be?

This one may be my favorite because I was raised by my grandparents who loved me as deeply as I loved them. Although my grandmother didn't wear that shoe style, she sewed on an old treadle sewing machine until the day she died. She wouldn't let me buy her a new one, even though I tried several times. The lace behind the word is perfect, too. It celebrates my new found love of sewing paper, and Marlynn honored that with this page.

And just look at the gorgeous bits of thread and lace that Marlynn added over the bit of corrugated cardboard. She added a rusted heart and a safety pin to these, as well as adding a safety pin and lace to the paper bit on the right side of the spread. This is one well composed composition.

I can't say enough about these pages that Marlynn has made for me. I'm so totally in love with them, and each one is simply perfect. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Marlynn. This has turned out to be one fantastic swap and there is still more to come!

Elizabeth - I just hope you know how much fun I had making these for you! The rust was a challenge at first but once I started I had trouble stopping. I loved making the rusty items in my "rust garden" - I am so happy you love these and thanks for accepting the NRA t-shirt I inherited from my "old" boss who picked it up when he went to target practice! LOL Hugs and enjoy your vacation.
