I was looking over my stash of materials for the
quiltlet swap and determined I didn't have very exciting material. So, just like I do with background papers, instead of heading for the fabric store, I dyed my own. I used printer ink refills for this project and cotton or muslin.

These would have been better if I hadn't spilled blue ink on this piece. I already had the yellow, so everything turned green.

This is the one piece that escaped most of the blue.

I scrunched up this small piece to wick up the excess.

I still had too much green/blue, so I grabbed a piece of muslin I had planned to use for backing. I kept this piece scrunched up until it was dry, so it got a mottled, almost batik look.

This piece is similar. I now have lots of green and blue, but no red and yellow. The scanner didn't do the subtle colors justice. The material is simply beautiful and I am really sad that I'm going to cut it up.

Oh your material came out so very pretty. I *love* the color.
