A week of art, a day of friendship: Wednesday, January 9

Kathy arrived a few minutes before Dana. Theresa made domino key chains for Kathy and Dana. Here she's giving Kathy her key chain.
Theresa and I made Kathy a "Friendship" plaque. The background was some of my coffee stained paper. We used two stamps, then added the eyelets and wire, which we also hung a charm from. Unfortunately, we didn't take a photo of the piece before we gave it to her.
Kathy is listening to me explain how we made it.
Dana arrived a few minutes later.
After passing out Christmas tip-ins to Kathy and me, and a "Lessons Learned" tip-in from a swap with another hostess, Dana received her key chain, then got up to inspect the ironing board Kathy brought to show us. It is really a work of art, and photos don't do it justice.
Kathy is explaining to Dana what she did on the ironing board,
then Dana takes another peek at it.
Kathy brought her art dolls for us to see. She had them sitting on my dining room table and the girls moved to the dining room to check them out before we left.

More photos of Dana, Kathy, and Theresa looking at the dolls in the dining room. It's time to go, though. We have a busy day ahead.

Our first stop was City Arts, an art gallery and workshop for artists. Some of the sculptures on display are shown in this photo.
Here is the seating area, where you can view all the art that graces the walls. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of the art on the walls.
Kathy, Dana, and Theresa talking to the receptionist.
You can see some of the art displayed on the walls in this shot, which was also taken near the reception desk.
The receptionist couldn't find one of Dana's pieces. You can see the other ones on the desk in front of Dana.
The receptionist finally called the director, who also couldn't find the other art piece. At least we got to see two of her fine art pieces: one a photograph, the other a mixed media piece.

Next it was on to Mrs. O'Leary's, where lots of goodies pack every square inch of the store. Even more fortuitous is the fact that Mrs. O'Leary's is only two blocks from City Arts. In the photo above, Dana is being helped by Joanie's daughter, who Dana knows well.
Dana is in the foreground (in blue) and Theresa is in the back, looking at the rubber stamp catalogue.
Dana is checking out the magazines,
while Theresa is looking at stamps and ephemera.
Dana hasn't moved much,
but Theresa has moved on to the paper and AB samples above the paper.
Kathy is checking out. True to form, she had a ball shopping at her favorite store.
Our next to last stop was at "World Buffet," a Chinese restaurant with an all you care to eat buffet. Kathy and I found this on her son's recommendation, and it has become one of our favorite places to eat. Here Dana is going for ice cream or the ladies' room. Not sure which.
Kathy and Theresa are having a great time. I love this photo of them.
Dana claimed I only snapped shots of her making silly faces,
but I seem to have done the same with Theresa, too!

After we ate, we walked off our lunches at Hobby Lobby, where I carried my camera around the store, but didn't take any photos at all. Then it was back to my place to look at a bit more art and to say our final good-byes until next time.
