T Stands For La Galette

 

 Earlier this summer, my foodie friend Sally and I went to La Galette Cafe and Bakery.

In case you missed the sign, I'm sure you can tell what kind of food they sell.  Swedish, Peruvian?  Not even close!!

I took a close up photo of the glass panel you may have noticed in the first photo.  Of particular note are the cold drink, cup of steaming brew, and the Wichita flag.

Inside is the menu on the board.

These are the sandwiches they offer.

Next are their specialties and drinks.

Then comes the salads, soups, and sides.
 
Finally, it shows they have been in business since 1986.
 
This lady finally made up her mind
 
and the next one stepped up to see what was available.

After we ordered, Sally and I found a table.  While we waited for our food, I took a photo of my ticket (and water with  lemon).

This is my veggie and rice soup and tuna sandwich on a French roll.  In the background,

Sally is eating her salad.  She also got a roll.

These are the cabbage rolls she ordered to go with the salad (and water).

Her cabbage rolls were filled with lamb.  One nice thing is there are lots of photos of our waters.

The food sounds wonderful, but not a bit French despite the image of the Eiffel Tower on the front of the cafe. I see middle-eastern hummus, kibbe, and tabouli; American-style salads, sandwiches, and soups; maybe Russian cabbage rolls, etc. Quiche was originally French but some of those varieties are American extensions. I find the menu very tempting and I’d love to eat there.

PS — They don’t seem to have their namesake dish on the menu; that is, a galette.

This looks like a place I'd enjoy eating, but I agree with Mae, this food isn't really French, unless you count a couple of meals like the quiche. Your lunch looks yummy though. I hope you have a great T day. hugs-Erika

That looks like a nice place, although the food doesn't look very French.
I'm sorry you're still having problems with Blogger. You don't seem to have any problems with mine, because I get your comments. (Even though it failed to publish, mine somehow seem to arrive, so I'm not complaining).

Oh, dear host, how can you make me that hungry first thing in the morning???
It sure is cabbage-time! Oh, and Pastrami!
I think I need to pay Subway a visit very soon. (That´s all we got here...).
Or I go to REWE and get a croissant. But then I have fish-patties from the northern ocean. Oh. Or Australian frozen pies..
