I'm back today with another spread for Halle who is hosting this month at Art Journal Journey. Her theme as you may know by now is I've got a notion.
I call this latest entry The Dress Form. I have detail images below.
I started by adhering a portion of dressmaker's tissue to my substrate using The Ultimate adhesive. While the adhesive was drying, I dyed a piece of cheesecloth using some of my dark Sumatra coffee. I then fussy cut the image which I found on the internet. I allowed everything to dry overnight, then stretched and cut the cheesecloth to fit over the dress form. In the end, I found this adorable bow with a pearl in the center and just had to add it to the form.Bleubeard and I are really happy you joined us today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey where we hope you will share your own interpretation of I've got a notion.

Your use of dress patterns makes me curious — I wonder when that started. The dressmaker form looks like it was from an earlier era of sewing, but I realize that I have no info about that history other than my own memories. I also wonder about the history of tailoring for men. I admit though that I’m not going to go down the rabbit hole a nd try to find out.

The vintage dress form is beautiful, and I love the texture of the cheesecloth!
Is that dress form a stamp? I really like how it faces sideways and has that cool hoop. I like the contrast of the white with it also. Hope you're staying cool this week. hugs-Erika
How wonderful. This turned out lovely. Can you even imagine wearing a bustle like that?!?! So much hardware under the dress. no thanks.
That bow is such a sweet touch! I saw a dress from in an antique mall once and was sorely tempted...
