Laverne and Shirley, but no photos

It's Friday and time to join Friday Smiles which is hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time).   Let's visit her and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.    And while we're at it, we can also visit Nicole's Friday Face Off for a second day in a row.

I took lots of photos of my herbs and was going to share them on Friday Smiles.  Then my batteries were "exhausted."  Not sure what happened.  I know those rechargeable batteries had been in my camera since forever, but when I tried to put newly recharged batteries in my camera, it wouldn't take them.   I tried four more.  Then I tried four that were not rechargeable.  Nothing worked.  I charged four batteries and they didn't work, either.  I can't get the photos off my camera because you have to have power, i.e., batteries in the camera.  I did the next best thing I could do and that was I called Scott after I went to Amazon and found another camera just like mine.  However, it won't be here until the 31st, which means for those of you following the mural saga, means I wasn't able to visit on Thursday, so I hope Sally will be free on Saturday (she has appointments today), and I can get some photos using her phone.

Here is my other Friday Face Off,

which also qualifies for Chris's theme which is When We Were Young at Art Journal Journey.  I'm not sure how relevant this will be to the International community who visit, because I never saw the show, so I don't really know much about its reach.

According to IMDb:
Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney were best friends and roommates coping with dates, neighbors, and each other.  During the late '50s and early '60s they worked as bottlecappers for Shotz Brewery in Milwaukee.  They moved to Burbank, California in 1965 to start a new life when they got replaced at the brewery by an automated bottlecapper.

Because no one could remember which girl was which, Laverne had an L embroidered on all her blouses and sweaters.

"Set in the 1950s, Laverne and Shirley

was a big hit in the mid to late 1970s."

The main actors were Cindy Williams (left) as Shirley Feeney and Penny Marshall as Laverne DeFazio.

Although I show a lot of hearts and love, from what I read on various sites (IMDb, Wikipedia, TV Guide) there was not a great deal of love shared between the two stars.  It seems they fought both on and off set.  For example, one would attack the other verbally if she had less lines than the other in a given show or scene.  From what I read, their fights were so loud at times, actors from an adjoining studio could hear them fighting.

I started by spritzing my blue handmade shimmering mist on 110 lb. cardstock.  While the mist was drying, I cut the image of the two stars from an old magazine.  I cut the image so there were no words showing.  The heart was a bit skewed, but was happy with it.  I outlined the heart, as well as the sentiment, using a blue felt tip marker.  Finally, since the page looked bare, I added the four heart stickers.

Thanks for joining Bleubeard and me today.  Please also join us at Art Journal Journey and Friday Face Off.

Here's an incredibly fuzzy photo of Squiggles I hadn't deleted from my files.  That's the one smile today, dear ladies.

I'm going to try to not cry over the fact I have no camera and share a few of these memes.

Now PLEASE visit Annie  and don't forget to start your weekend with a smile.

EDIT: I just realized that next Friday is the 2nd of the month, which means I will be hosting Second on the 2nd, which is a post where you dig up an old post that you have shown in the past.

I can reload my cams via usb, much nicer, no?
But who knows what can go wrong there, too.
I make daily updates on my PC and there I have two external drives as backup, LOL.
Ingo is a geek, as you can see, I am by no means that important ;-)

Bitter-sweet story again.
I worked in a food factory and had to put tins from one place to another (hot, with thin gloves). Boy, how boring that was!
Bottlecapper sounds "as interesting".

They don´t look alike to me at all?
Sad about the jealousy between the two.

Hi Squiggles! :-)

India, never knew it seems I´ve lived there (we had a neighbor like that).
Love the dino-idea.
Buzz stands right above my workplace, a pressie from Bro!
Those kids.... BIG LOL!!!!!
I must be the worst Aunt in the world. I once gave my Niece such a film-camera. Now that I see this... I never heard back of this!
But! I have a similar right here - no kidding! (not the TP-holder, a real one)

Hi Elizabeth, sorry about your camera woes. I haven't had one with batteries for many years. I have no idea who Laverne and Shirley are, sorry! Have a great Friday, take care, hugs, Valerie

That is strange about the camera but it sounds to me as though it's not the fault of the battery but something else. These things are brilliant until they let you down Lol! Hope you get sorted soon and in the mean time rest up sweet Elizabeth. Loving the funnies and very fitting that you found so many camera ones. I sure have memories of waiting for the photos to arrive and still have some that were not quite as expected! Have a lovely weekend, hugs Angela xxx

I think I have heard of Shirley and Laverne but not a thing about it. Maybe it was whilst on holiday in America that someone in the family mentioned it.
Cameras can be a pain can;'t they, hope you get it fixed or something - you are having a terrible time with technology at the moment. Hope things take a good turn.
Hugs, Neet xxx

Oh dear. I hope your new camera arrives swiftly and works well for you.
I have never heard of the sitcom program though we had one or two similar ones in UK, but it fitted your theme and made a good page.
The surveillance camera memes made me smile too, as did the 'fuzzy' squiggles.

enjoyed the back story about Laverne and Shirly-being friends for so long didn't know about their fighting on set-that's sad.
so sorry about your camera, I have a digital camera that I have had for around 25 years at least-still works pretty good but I don't think the photos are as sharp now. Hope you find a fix. it's hard to find a camera now since so many only use their smart phones for cameras (we don't use smart phones either except for a cheap one for emergencies)
Happy friday

Ohhh Lavern and Shirley I used to love that show. Something simple but enjoyable about it. I love the photo where the kids think the survey is a camera. Just too cute. Thank you for joining FFO again. I love both posts. Have a great weekend.

I always enjoyed Laverne and Shirley. It is a shame you never saw it. The theme song is iconic. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJzF8_df1R8&ab_channel=Lennie72 )

My camera is my phone. It takes better photos than any camera I ever owned.

Empire of the Cat said...

When my phone was on the frizz a couple of years ago I pulled out my DSLR and discovered that the batteries wouldn't charge, and I panicked a bit because I knew there were photos on there. I will have to go back through my notes to see how I fixed it because replacing the batteries wasn't enough to bring it back to life, there was something else that had to be done. I have been using it ever since as my old phone used to overheat when I used the camera. If I can find the fix for the camera, I'll let you know. Happy Friday Face-off Elle/EOTC xx

That's too bad about your camera. No USB cable that you can connect to your computer to get the photos off the camera? I hope you get your camera earlier than expected. I'm not a fan of sit-com so didn't watch Laverne and Shirley though I saw bits and pieces of the show from time to time if nothing else was on. Squiggles reminds me of Ink. Ink didn't like having his photograph taken. Have a good weekend

that happened to my camera battery too. They just give up the ghost and dh got me a new purple camera same style as my old one. Loved all the camera jokes!

Sigh at the camera woes. I loved seeing Squiggles and the funnies too.

I’m sorry to hear about your camera. Does it not have an SD card with your photos on it? That card can go straight into you computer. Anyway, I understand a fix is on the way.
No I’ve never heard of that sitcom. What a shame they fought.
Great seeing Squiggles, and I love the funnies.
Happy TDay,
Lisca

That's a great look back page for Chris' challenge. I remember that show, and I used to watch it after Happy Days. It's a classic, isn't it? That was a great idea for Chris' challenge, and a fun topic too. I hope your day is going well, other than the camera. That's too bad. Hopefully the new camera will arrive earlier than expected. Happy weekend. hugs-Erika

I'm glad to see Squiggles, fuzzy or not! I know what you mean about the frustration of waiting for a new camera or battery. But I'm sure your herb garden is going great guns, probably far better than mine!

Divers and Sundry said...

Will your camera plug into your computer? You could give it power that way. I haven't had a camera in years, ever since I realized my cell phone took better photos than my poor low-end camera did lol

I remember Laverne and Shirley but never watched it.
