Independence Day in the USA

The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a federal US holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, where the colonies declared their independence from Great Britain.   Today is marked with red, white and blue flags, fireworks, parades, and backyard barbecues.

This is a scheduled post.  By the time many of you read this, the candles will be burning, the grill will be filled, the bubbly will be flowing, and music will be playing.  Although I'm entertaining today, I still want to share a bit of art with you.

I couldn't get this photo to color correct, no matter what I tried.  But you will see the ICAD next week when I scan it.

In case you're wondering, Bleubeard hates fireworks and noise of any type, so he has been allowed to stay in the basement where he can hide where it's cool.  Squiggles, on the other hand, doesn't like other people or animals, so he has hidden under my couch in my office.  I'll check on both on occasion, but for the most part, I'll be playing host and showing off my grilling skills.

What I really wanted to share was this thank you for visiting my blog and being so very supportive of my art.  It's the only way I know how to show my gratitude for all your lovely comments and time you take to visit.

If you live in the US, have a lovely Independence Day.  If you live anywhere else in the world, have a lovely Saturday and weekend.

Happy 4th! Or Happy "Good Riddance Day" as the British might call it ;)

The rain stopped long enough for us to go to the mother-in-law's for a cook-out and to watch their town's fireworks; but the rain is back now, so we'll be celebrating the actual 4th inside. Hope your weather's cooperative :)

Hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th!

You asked about the Burano doors--I have only been there in summer but since it can get cold, I assume they do swap the curtains for doors in Winter.

Also, thank you for all your support of my artistic attempts. I have to clarify that I didn't get the glue off the SOC piece even with the gesso down first. I merely cleaned it off! :)

Gracie is not a fan of fireworks either. Or thunder. She usually follows me around "yelling" at me. I think she wants me to make it stop. Uh..sorry cat..I'm not all powerful.
