A Postal 4 X 4

I made this 4 X 4 for Theresa, who is making a book for her dad for Christmas. He is a retired postal worker, so I used that theme.
Mr. Zip is the front. The background is a "happy accident," or "flopportunity." I was working with alcohol on another project, and had an old letter sitting on my work table. I spilled some of the alcohol onto the letter and it dispersed in a lovely pattern. I decided I could still use it, and it really turned out well for Mr. Zip's background.

The problem with this 4 X 4 is the size of the image is nearly the same as the background, leaving T little room for the binding. However, I couldn't find another way to position it so it would work. The black around the image is NOT part of the square, but from my scanner.
This is the back of the square. T said it didn't have to be fancy, so I added the various Postal Seals we've had since 1782 over a background of oil pastels. Since I know T's dad, I decided to add my last name initial, something I rarely do. Again, the black "frame" is from my scanner, and not part of the 4 X 4. Click on either photo for a better look.

Loe the cartoon guy! Makes me think of a budding cartoonist I dated back in High School. :) Oh, to be 16 again...

You couldn't have picked a better background.
