My friend
Kat and I are in a one-on-one Vintage RR. Anything "old" is fair game in our books, and since I hadn't even picked up her book in about a month or two, I thought I should add a few spreads before
Theresa came for a visit.

For the Queen Elizabeth I spread, I started by spreading gold pigment ink all over the two pages. Next I added an image of the Queen cut from
Antiques magazine. I also added a quote I found on the Internet. Click on the small photo to enlarge it and read the quote.

Kat's book is larger than my scanner, so it's difficult to get a photo of both pages. These are images of Roman mosaics, circa 1880s. I began with Twinkling H20s, which make some pretty awesome backgrounds. I used four colors, allowing them to bleed into each other. When dry, I added the images.

This is the left side of the spread,

and here is the right side. I used a blue Zig pen to write the title, which shows up much better on the pink than the purple.

We all have leftover scraps from current projects we want to save, but with Theresa coming, I am trying to clean up my work area. Instead of having a pile of scraps I wouldn't throw away, I decided to use them as a collage background. All these scraps are left over from projects I've worked on in the past two weeks. I found the word "Be-held" and it looked like it matched the font from the German book text. I was flipping through the December issue of
Antiques and saw this Madonna and child. The word seemed to fit perfectly. I was surprised how quickly the page came together, even though it took awhile to glue down all those little scraps of paper.
Now I have less of a mess to put away tomorrow when I clean my craft studio and Kat has some more completed pages in her book.
