Spending time with Kathy?

I left early Tuesday morning, even before the sun was up, for Kathy's.  On the way there, I stopped at Carriage Crossing, the restaurant and "tourist trap" I compared to Auntie Mae's during T Stands For Tuesday on March 10.  If you haven't seen the post, you might want to check it out.

As I walked in, I had one thought on my mind and it was to buy

freshly baked cinnamon rolls.  You have to get there early, though, or they're all gone.  You can see they cost $1.49 each, as opposed to Auntie Mae's who charged $3.99 for each of theirs.  I got four for the price of quite a bit less than two at Auntie Mae's.

And although Auntie Mae's had some lovely things for sale in their gift shop, almost everything at Carriage Crossing is hand made.  The Amish are SO resourceful.  Once again, I'm going to shut my yap and let you peruse at your own pace.

Although their art quilts were lovely, their bed quilts are fantastic.  But so is the price! Of course, since I can't sew a straight line, or even cut one, I think these are fantastic, especially this one called "Star Spin" that had me doing a double take.  I even wondered if any of that fabric was hand dyed.

Although I had only seen about half the gift shop, my order was ready, and I was anxious to get on the road.  Only about 20 miles to go!

Once I got to Kathy's, her husband Don opened the door for me, and Snowball greeted me.  How sweet was that!  I hope Bleubeard doesn't get jealous.  Note the top of my mug.  I only spilled my coffee three times on the way.

It didn't take me long to notice all the new things Kathy had purchased since I was last there.

One was that awesome new 30 drawer cabinet she purchased at an antique store for more money than I spend in a year on food!

Another was her new cutter sitting next to the guillotine cutter.

As I was unloading my supplies, I also noticed her new corner where all her dies and such were kept.  Sadly, I didn't get a good photo of everything it included.

By the time Kathy arrived, I had everything out ready to go.  Note how Snowball has pushed the bags out of her way and found a cozy spot in front of the window.

It would be time to play as soon as that box was opened.  If you want to see it being opened, you'll have to come back tomorrow for Friday Smiles.

After the box was opened, I put my camera up, something very uncharacteristic of me, and even though we went out to eat twice, and took a jog around the city one day, I simply forgot to get it until it was too late.  In fact, I didn't pick it up until I was ready to leave last night, right before the high wind, bitter cold, and slashing rain nearly took me off the road a couple of times.  I almost left it, too, since I had not used it for so long.

And forgetting my camera for two days is unthinkable, since it's always with me.  But I did manage a few photos of Kathy and her new Christmas puppy named Watson, although

it was hard getting a good photo, especially because it was so cold.

Kathy really looked miserable while I tried to focus on her and Watson.

And then, it was time to put the camera away until I got home.  I know I promised lots of photos, but I didn't expect them to be of everything except our play day.  Be sure to come back tomorrow for the rest of the story!

Hi Elizabeth!

You're so good to get out and visit people and places. I am such a hermit these days. I do get out, but it's always "have to" reasons and by the time I get home, I want to stay home.

We love to eat at the Carriage Crossing...it's been a long long time though.

Your friend's craft room looks amazing and it looks like you had a great visit.

Hope you're having a great week.

OMG!! I am in love with the spinning star (or squares) quilt!! I think I would have gone in debt for that one.

Such a wonderful playground Kathy has, can't wait to see what you two created in that space. What a lovely 30 drawer cabinet, even though it was pricy it was a great find for a craft space.

I'll try to be back tomorrow for your Friday smiles. DH wants to hit the road early so I'm not sure when I will get back around.

Yes that is the rocker that will someday make it's way to you....(grin) I forgot to get it out of the picture, so now the surprise will have to be WHEN you get it....LOL
