Kayaking at the lake in the good old summertime.

 

I want to begin by thanking my friend Halle of Halle's Hobbies for hosting in July.  I loved her theme and many of you did, too.  I only wish I could have played more, but life got in the way.

Today we welcome a new host, as we do every month.  Our host this month is no stranger to any of you art journal, mixed media, photography, tag, travel, and bee lovers.  Yes, it is our co-host at Art Journal Journey, my friend Erika, who many of you know as BioArtGal.  Erika's theme for the entire month at AJJ is In the good old summertime.  Erika emphasizes your art can be vintage or current summertime activities.  Below is my interpretation of her theme.

I give you "Kayaking at the lake."  Details are below. 

 

I found this image in my stash and it screamed summertime to me.  I first cut it to size, then spent a lot of time getting the background right.  However, once I scanned it, the fact that I meticulously staggered and overlapped the strips of security envelopes I used doesn't show in the scan.  You might be able to see it on the close up.  After situating the focal image to the background, I added the wording using ransom style lettering.

Fog

I want to once again thank my dear friend Chris, whose blog is PearShapedCrafting, for being such a great host in March.  We will definitely be inviting her back next year.

We now introduce a new host as we do each month.  This is also a first time host and we are delighted to introduce Gillena, whose blog is Lunch Break.  Many of you know Gillena because she hosts Sunday Smiles and Art For Fun Friday.  She lives in St. James, Trinidad.  Gillena's theme for April is Trees are Awesome, Aren't They?

Also, beginning today and continuing through April 22nd, I will recycle, reuse, or repurpose something to keep it out of the landfill.

I named this first entry Fog.  Details are below.

 

As you can see, the deciduous tree in the foreground overshadows the evergreens shrouded by the fog.  The focal image found in my stash, is surrounded by recycled security envelopes.  I love using them because the patterns are all so different.

My Easter Bunny

 

Today I'm at Art Journal Journey (AJJ) with another journal page for my friend Chris, this month's host, who can be found at PearShapedCrafting. Her theme this month is Spring Forward.  And because the bunny has a face, now that I can leave comments again, I'm also sharing this with Nicole and Friday Face Off.

This is My Easter Bunny.  Details are below.

 

 I began by adhering vintage sheet music to 5.5 X 8 inch (13.97 X 20.32 centimeter) 110 lb cardstock.  I then added various parts of the top layer of the bunny napkin to the page.  Finally, I added the computer generated text.

Butterflies

 

I'm at Art Journal Journey (AJJ) today with a journal page for my friend Chris, our host this month. Chris can be found at PearShapedCrafting. Her theme in case you didn't know is Spring Forward. 

It's obvious this is called Butterflies.  I once again began by adhering vintage sheet music to 5.5 X 8 inch (13.97 X 20.32 centimeter) 110 lb cardstock.  I then adhered a portion of the top layer of a napkin.  

 

Finally, I computer generated the word and edged it in black dye ink.

Spring Flowers

 

Tuesday I did my civic duty and voted.  This was a special election that involved an increased sales tax.  I was happy I voted, but my vote didn't matter that much because 82% of us (nearly 42,000), myself included, voted NO, and only 18% (about 9,100) voted yes.  It was the biggest turnout of a special election voted on in years.  Our mayor, who I did NOT vote for into office, was behind the yes decision and even caused the special election.  I don't see her chances of re-election in two years being all that great!

I began by adhering vintage sheet music to 5.5 X 8 inch (13.97 X 20.32 centimeter) 110 lb cardstock.  I then added various parts of the top layer of a napkin to the page.  I then added a butterfly, but misjudged where it was to go and at least 1/4th was off the page.  When I tried to remove it and re-adhere it, I tore it.  I probably should have left it off because part of it was still off the page the second time I added it.  Finally I added the computer generated words.

The Dancers and Avignon

 

Something happened late last night that had me dancing.  Have any of you who use Firefox gotten a notice there was a new update?  I ignored it on Thursday and now wish I hadn't.  Hindsight is always 20/20.  After I installed the update, I did what I always do twice a day.  I left myself a comment.  This time, instead of reading "Failed to Publish, Try Again Later," my comment published.  That's when I decided to see if I could leave comments to others.  I chose the two people who have stuck by me every day this month: Tom and Erika.  Now I'll be by to leave comments to you, too! 

Bleubeard and I have been hosting Art Journal Journey (AJJ) this month.  Our theme for the entire month is Anywhere, Anytime, Any Place, with Anyone.  

Today, I have two pages I created and they are both very different.  Those of you who have visited my blog in the past know how much I love to sew paper to paper.  Therefore, it should be no surprise that I would have to include at least one entry this month that included sewing.  

I named this entry The Dancers.  Details are below.

 

 

I started with vintage sheet music I colored using blue, green, and silver fluid acrylic paints.  I sewed the two dancers I found in my stash to the background using blue variegated thread. 

 

My second entry takes us back to France. 

 

We are visiting Avignon.  Details are below.

 

I started once again with one of my favorite backgrounds: security envelopes.  These were all very different patterns.  I found images from two different travel brochures, one of which contained the image of the famous bridge, the other of a World Heritage site.  Information for this page came from various sites on the internet.  This page was 5.5 X 8.5 inch (13.97 X 21.59 centimeter) created on 110 lb. cardstock.
