Modern Milly

Today I'm back at Art Journal Journey joining our host Mia who can be found at Craftartista.  Her theme this month is Make your own backgroundI'm also sharing this with Nicole's Friday Face Off because there is a face in this post.

I give you Modern Milly.  Detail images are below.

Modern Milly was created using black ransom type letters.  I have no step-out photos of how I created the background.  I created the background by placing three colors of fluid acrylics onto an ice cream lid.  Then I blew up a balloon and ran it through the two green colors.  After I used all the greens, I cleaned the balloon and dipped it in the blue.

I used another TH paper doll, as well as the ransom letters.  As I said before, I want to keep the focal image simple because the focus should be on the background.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Bleubeard and I hope to see you and your handmade backgrounds soon at Art Journal Journey and your face at Friday Face Off.

EDIT: I swear this looks like a young lady to me, although several of you believe it's a young man.

Have never heard of this balloon technique before. It reminds e a little of the marble technique. Love how you combined blue and green together. Handsome boy.

...Milly isn't a modern name these days.

The background has a beautiful color mix! The young man and the font match perfectly!

This is another brilliant piece of art. I really like where you are going with this style. I hope this is the one for FFO. Like I said it is brilliant. Thank you for joining in. There is a surprise for you on FFO this week.

I think it's a boy too, but in our modern times it could be a girl dressed up in boys clothes (and who may be wishes she was a boy). Since Mia's challenge is all about backgrounds, I like yours. At AJJ the background is more important than if the person is a boy or girl.
