T Stands For La Galette

Earlier this summer, my foodie friend Sally and I went to La Galette Cafe and Bakery.

In case you missed the sign, I'm sure you can tell what kind of food they sell.  Swedish, Peruvian?  Not even close!!

I took a close up photo of the glass panel you may have noticed in the first photo.  Of particular note are the cold drink, cup of steaming brew, and the Wichita flag.

Inside is the menu on the board.

These are the sandwiches they offer.

Next are their specialties and drinks.

Then comes the salads, soups, and sides.

Finally, it shows they have been in business since 1986.

This lady finally made up her mind

and the next one stepped up to see what was available.

After we ordered, Sally and I found a table.  While we waited for our food, I took a photo of my ticket (and water with  lemon).

This is my veggie and rice soup and tuna sandwich on a French roll.  In the background,

Sally is eating her salad.  She also got a roll.

These are the cabbage rolls she ordered to go with the salad (and water).

Her cabbage rolls were filled with lamb.  One nice thing is there are lots of photos of our waters.

I've shown mine, now it's time to share your own drink related post.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I will gladly visit, as will other T participants.  Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

I still can't publish any comments.  Two got through last week which gave me hope.  Sadly, that was as far as I got.  If you have a blogger blog and visit, I will try to contact you by e-mail.  If you are NOT on blogger, I can leave you a comment.

The food sounds wonderful, but not a bit French despite the image of the Eiffel Tower on the front of the cafe. I see middle-eastern hummus, kibbe, and tabouli; American-style salads, sandwiches, and soups; maybe Russian cabbage rolls, etc. Quiche was originally French but some of those varieties are American extensions. I find the menu very tempting and I’d love to eat there.

Good luck with the comment frustrations. I hope you find a way out.

best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com

PS — They don’t seem to have their namesake dish on the menu; that is, a galette.

It looks good - but not particularly French.

This looks like a place I'd enjoy eating, but I agree with Mae, this food isn't really French, unless you count a couple of meals like the quiche. Your lunch looks yummy though. I hope you have a great T day. hugs-Erika

I thought the food would be more French, but it looks good.
Wishing you a happy week ahead.

All the best Jan

That looks like a nice place, although the food doesn't look very French.
I'm sorry you're still having problems with Blogger. You don't seem to have any problems with mine, because I get your comments. (Even though it failed to publish, mine somehow seem to arrive, so I'm not complaining).
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Oh, dear host, how can you make me that hungry first thing in the morning???
It sure is cabbage-time! Oh, and Pastrami!
I think I need to pay Subway a visit very soon. (That´s all we got here...).
Or I go to REWE and get a croissant. But then I have fish-patties from the northern ocean. Oh. Or Australian frozen pies..
Ha. Hope you are hungry now, too ;-) Have a happy T-Day!
(No? Broccoli+tofu in seeds with mushrooms from last week, frozen, home-made. Brussels Sprouts, made with love (Adriano Celentano).... )
You want me to go on?
Salted Caramel Ice Cream!

Oh, I love Galettes. We had them several times on our trip to Britanny in Northeastern France two years ago. Very delicious. But when we tried to cook them at home they did not taste that good. Happy T-day...and you see...I am back from holidays.

Looks like a fab place to eat and your food looks yummy 😊. Nice to see Sally too, do you think she'd let me have one of those cabbage rolls; just because lamb is a favourite of mine. Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
