It's Friday, which means it's time to join Friday Smiles, hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit Annie and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.
We have a long weekend because Independence Day (aka the 4th of July) was yesterday. I thought I'd try a bit of patriotic and July 4th humor.
I hope those of you who now live or at one time lived or called Britain home, are not offended by the humor I have shared today. I hope a few of these made you smile. Thanks for spending part of your Friday and holiday here. Bleubeard and I would love to see you at Friday Smiles, too.

I had no smile.
I laughed :-)
So many good ones and really, why can´t we all go for the metric system? And Celsius. I ALWAYS have to look that up.
But then... the world would be boring.
Let us celebrate!!!! Happy Friday to you, dear Elizabeth!
Thanks for the smiles.
Very good funnies today. I get that the Americans in general don't understand the metric system (Just as I still have to do a calculation when I see Fahrenheit), but what's the relevance of Independence Day and a kilometre?
Thank you so much for the history of the events that led to independence. I had heard of the Boston Tea Party but none of the other things. I only knew Paul Revere (and the Raiders) as a pop band from the late 60s. Mark Lindsay was a teenage heart throb.
Enjoy your weekend,
Lisca
You made me smiloe Elizabeth. I have to admit most of the American celebrations pass me by. Our village is preparing for next week's big patronal fiesta, and that is enough distraction for me. It is the only day in the year we see a few 'real' fireworks.
I am trying to be sensible with my hand, but as you say, it isn't easy! Kate xx
...Elizabeth, what a collection. I hope that you had a fabulous day.
I really like the one with the signing of the constitution and the equal rights for everyone except... so true. And the scary part is there are people trying to bring us back to that now. Have a super Friday. hugs-Erika
keep trying to leave a comment and they are either going to spam or cyberspace?
they are not posting? hope you are well 💙‼️
wavez two ewe bleu and squiggles 😺🐟💚
I was glued to coverage of Britain's election on the 4th 👍
Hi Elizabeth, I'm late today as I've been to the haidressers and so have Daisy and Alfie but we're all back now. It was exciting here yesterday with the election for a new government. The Americans are not the only ones that have problems with the metric system. Here in UK they sell fabrics by the length in centimetres and measure the width with imperial, crazy or what! Have a great weekend. Hugs Angela xXx
Yes I laughed at your funnies...but we did have other things on our mind this July 4th :-)
Hugs,
Annie x
Thank you for the laughs Elizabeth. Aloha
Well if you saw my post today, you'll know where I'm standing this year on the Fourth of July. Since we appear to be heading back to having a King here in the US, I think I'd rather have the one in the UK!
