Today I am joining Erika, who some of you know as BioArtGal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey. She wants us to use the color red in our art this month.
I call this Homage to the Lantern Festival, but it could just as easily be called Thankful for Cindy McMath. Cindy was responsible for sending the Lanterns, which are German scrap.
I also removed the old postage stamp from one of her cards she sent, which is an animal from a previous year.
For the background, I mixed a Staz-on reinker with 91% isopropyl alcohol, then spread it on the 110 lb cardstock using a makeup sponge. I layered a piece of handmade paper (made by me) over which I added a piece of vintage sheet music I colored using a marker. The final element was the postage stamp. I computer generated the words and date.
Bleubeard and I are thrilled you joined us and hope to see you soon at Art Journal Journey with your own take on the color Red.

Lovely journal page and nice gifts from Cindy! Have a great weekend, hugs to you all! Valerie
Stunning. This is one of your best (which I often say/think).
I love the colors and how you put it together!
Laterns per se, though... a horror for me.
I am so old back in the day we had real candles and you could just bet one kid on a march with laterns will bump into another and there is real fire! And me running off, screaming, which led to... you can guess.... there were always two kindy-guards for a reason! ;-)
You did a great job on this art journal page, dear Elizabeth - I love the composition, the bright red and the elements you used. How beautifully everything fits together here!
Happy weekend ❤️ and all the best to you and Bleubeard!

PS: I only now noticed that I can follow your blog and I did it right away :-)
Those gold lanterns are amazing. Other than when you shared them, I've never seen that pattern of gold scrap before. I like them. And that is a cool postage stamp. Together with your background and the red paper it does make a very cool page. Your page is much appreciated. It's perfect for Seeing Red. Have a nice Saturday. With windchill we are at -32 today. I am practically dressed for outside even with the woodstove going. Smile. hugs-Erika
Lovely
This is pretty, Elizabeth. I love the lanterns and the stamp really sets it off.
I like how your collage looks like a lantern.
Nice collage, I do like the horse.
Good morning, I am in Loveeeee with your page!
I very much like this page Elizabeth. The color , content and composition is just perfect! I bought some stamps yesterday. They were out of Year of the Rabbit, so i got Year of the Tiger. Still very pretty.. and somehow fitting as my maiden name is Tigar pronounced like the animal.. :) Hugs! deb

Looks great! Beautiful handmade paper and the horse stamp is striking. :)
I love red. Such a great colour!
This is wonderful Elizabeth! I love the lantern shape & how you used the scrap & postage.
What a fantastic page Elizabeth - love the gifts from Cindy making their appearance here. Hugs, Chrisx
I love that horse on the stamp. What a beautiful image kit is, just imagine that in a rubber stamp - it would be fabulous to use.
Thanks for your lantern page, I really enjoyed seeing it - I love all things to do with China and the Chinese people.
Hugs, Neet xx
