I admit. This post is on a timer. About the time this post hits the electronic airways, I will be on my way to my friend Kathy's house in another city. We have a day of art and fun planned, and I'm really looking forward to playing in HER studio for a change.
At the beginning of the week, I took my friend Sally to lunch at an Italian restaurant as a pre-birthday celebration. She ordered an Italian pastry for dessert, and I asked to take a photo of it. She had already put her finger in the chocolate decoration before I got the shot.
Yesterday I had planned to take Sally to lunch, but you can see she drove. Although he's a bit hard to see, and I never got a better shot the entire day, Sally's son, who lives in Texas with his partner, flew home for one day to wish Sally a happy birthday. Now how great is that!! I'd just be happy if Bleubeard cleaned his own "digs" on my birthday! You can see I filled a small container with three tulips from my garden and gave them to her. I know how much she loves flowers.
At the restaurant, I quickly got a cake dessert and placed a candle in it. The waitress told me I could light it, since I had brought it with me to surprise Sally. As an aside, in Kansas, you are not allowed to smoke inside any establishment, not even casinos, so I wanted to get permission because I knew once the flame was extinguished, there would be smoke. My throat was so raspy and sore from the spring time allergies I have been subjected to, I was unable to sing Happy Birthday to her, but Jeff did it for both of us.
Sally was in the process of opening her gift. She's having a problem with the flat rate envelope I stuck the gift in. I'm nothing if not CHEAP in my packaging (grin).
The art quilt I worked on Tuesday, was finally finished. I had added the dowel rod and fancy fringe hanger.
I think she likes it!
I'll be out all day, and won't be back until late tonight, so you won't hear from me until late Friday. I'll visit when I can! Have an awesome day. Have you celebrated someone's birthday recently?

P.S. We celebrated my daughter's 18th b-day on the 15th ;)
Looks like a great day was had by all. I haven't had any birthday celebrations lately.
Happy Birthday to Sally! We recently celebrated with a surprise party the 30th birthday of our good friends' daughter! I met her when she was 8 or 9, and she now has two children of her own....makes me feel old!
looks like you had a lovely day...Sally is fortunate to have a friend like you who gives her cake, flowers AND a gift for her birthday! I made some birthday cards for two nephews last week...it's really hard to come up with something 'masculine!' thank goodness for the scrapbooking sites on the internet! and I have a birthday coming up...ssshhh, don't tell!
Looks like a good time was had by all! Who wouldn't love a piece of your art for their birthday or any occasion.
Sweet gift for Sally. Hope you had a great time today!!
Sally certainly looks like she loves her quiltlet and who wouldn't be happy with cake and candles and sons flying home for your birthday!! Hope you have a lovely visit and gets lots of craftiness done!
I knew she would like it! cheers! x
Happy Sally!! Hope the two of you had a lovely day!
