I'm joining in tonight because I don't want to miss WOYWW, hosted by our loveable and ever so thoughtful Julia at Stamping Ground. Show her the love, because she can use it!
However, if you were here earlier today, you learned that I no longer can access any of my computer drives, except the OS (operating system also known as C drive). That means I can't transfer photos from my camera to my photo editing program.
Since I can't show my desk this week, and since some of you are new (or newer) to WOYWW and have asked about my rocking horses, I thought I would show a few photos of some of the ones I've featured in the past. Forgive me if you have already seen these. At last count, I had slightly over 450.
Let's start in my craft room, where these candles normally live on the window sill.
Here are some I have received from WOYWWers (JozArt and Cath in Cyprus) and
one from our fearless leader, Julia.
WOW! This reindeer copied BIG!
And here is one that rolls, but doesn't rock. WOYWWendy is looking on.
Here she gives her approval. Yes, the bangs that come down below her eyes are just like I wear mine.
Let's move on to my guest bedroom, where you will find a lot of rocking horses, including several that live on pillows.
Of course, one of my favorite horses lives here, too.
This might be a better view of the horse that is nearly as tall as my guest bed foot board.
We must stop in the loo to see this one that children can ride.
Moving on to the living room, here are two in this vignette, one of which I painted and placed in an oval hoop frame.
Can you see the rocking horse outside my window? If not, it's easy to see a couple of my favorites live on my Grandmother's treadle sewing machine,
while this pull along horse lives below the machine.
There are lots of rocking horses in this photo. Some on the wall, some on the top of the kitchen (sometimes called Hoosier, although that was a brand name) cabinet, and some
on the metal shelf, all love to play together, especially when no one is looking.
Keys stay in place on my rocking horse key holder in my kitchen.
Head to my office, and you will see lots of shelves. This one sits over my computer between two book cases. I see three rocking horses in this photo and I know there are more. I like keeping them together, especially since they love to play together.
Also in my office, I have two shelves with horses on them. Sadly, only one is shown here, along with one of my hoops from the 80s.
A detail of the shelf shows a bowl of paper clips decorated with a single rocking horse earring I found at a garage sale.
Three more rocking horses are on this bookcase in my bedroom. Although this is my only bedroom shot, there are many more in the room. I can't get away from my "friends" (not that I would want to) because they are everywhere!
Heading to the basement, upon entry, you are greeted with a rocking horse painting in a frame. I think that's probably the end of a tour, which means that's as many previously shown rocking horse photos as I want to pull off my blog.
However, here are a few of my approximately 450 that I assembled awhile back for a rocking horse reunion. Hope you have enjoyed the tour and can appreciate my love of rocking horses, even though I had no desk to show today.
So, rock on this WOYWW, or until I can figure out how to get my other computer drives back.

What a happy obsession!
Nice to see a tour of your house, Elizabeth! Very nice! I had the impression that you made art everywhere! Not so!
Love all your rocking horses Elizabeth, I just can't get over how many you have!

Rocking in at #1 well done. Love all your rocking horses and good to see they get to spend time together on display. What is the collective noun for a rocking horse reunion? Hope your computer troubles get sorted it is such a pain not being able to download pics etc.
Thanks for the lovely tour. Collections are fun and so interesting. So were the nice pieces of furniture. Wish you luck with your computer problems. Have a fun WOYWW

Hi there, lovely to see your collection. I think they are beautiful. I used to make fabric horses, I saw one on your bed. I have also made two wood ones in the past. I must dig out the photo of my daughter riding it as the horse is long gone!
Thank you for sharing a bit of your world with us WOYWWers this morning! I hope you have a wonderful week.

I really enjoyed that retrospective view of your rocking horse collection - that was fun!! I hadn't seen many of those before, particularly liked the leaping grey on the treadle machine. You'll have to do a feature on that machine next as that looks a work of art in its own right :) I love old technology - after years of being dragged around Victorian pumping stations, steam museums etc, I've come to adore these massive old machines, all the pistons and gears etc. Maybe that's why Steampunk appeals so much?
Hugs, LLJ #43 xx
I'm sorry that you're having IT probs but I'm sort of rather glad cos I really enjoyed the look at all those gorgeous rocking horses. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

Fab post browsing all those RHs and I spotted the ones I sent too! I adore the rocking reindeer... majestic. I too have a treadle machine, most families still do here so they are of no cash value but certainly valuable treasures to us and full of memories.
Love joZarty x
yay , she's back and in at number ONE,
the reindeer rocks!
there are ways you might be able to access the data on your hard drive...even if soem of the files are corrupted

Oh I adore your rocking horses, what a great thing to collect. They are beautiful. I love them as Xmas decs, but they are even better as all year round things!!! Thanks for the looksie and I really hope you get that computer sorted. Nothing more frustrating that a puter breakdown!
Computer problems are a pain but at least it gave me a chance for a good snoop round your fab collection. I remember the horse I had as a child, it had a fabric covering and a red saddle and reins - if only I had kept it.
I love your collection, it sits so well amongst your home surroundings and isn't always obvious, I think the pull along rocking horse and the one in the WC remind me most of being little. Specially as Mr Dunnit bought a pattern and knocked up a red one for Miss D when she was little and it's almost identical to the one that lives in your Loo! Good designs don't need changing. Great way to join us this week, would've missed ya!
I think you may have to admit defeat and save some pennies for a new computer...... What a lovely idea to display something of your lovely collection, and a tour of your humble abode to :) Hope it all gets sorted for you soon one way or another. We need variety for inspiration in our WOYWW week!
Hope you sort your computer probs soon, was lovely to see your lovely collection of your rocking and rolling !! ((no pun intended lol)) rocking horses, you have some gorjuss ones there, my fav has to be the large on in the spare bedroom xx
Thanks for the peek
Hugs

Nice collection of horses. First time visitor.
Keep rockin!
Hello Elizabeth, nice to come and visit you again, I haven't been here in a while. What a fun rocking horse collection you have. I especially love the orange and green ones on your metal shelf - love their wild manes - they do totally rock as you might say!
Thanks for popping over to see my desk again.
Sherry - rocking in at number 37 xx
How lovely to see so many of your rocking horses and a glimpse around your home too.
Wow! Lots of rocking horses. You have a nice collection of them all over the place without them being overwhelming. How totally fun. I hope you computer gets resurrected soon.
Thanks for showing off your collection -- hope you get your drives sorted -- that must be frustrating.
I love a good collection! Yours is just fantastic and I love that there are so many styles, eras, colors and materials represented. To me that's what a great collection should have - just so very cool. Thanks for sharing - hope you get your computer fixed soon.....what a pain!
Great peek at your horses. We have an old 'family' rocking horse that was in my husbands home as a child, now living in one of our childrens house with grandchildren riding it. Fun
hugs

Congrats on being #1 again
Thanks for sharing your fabulous rocking horses x
If you'd asked me I would never have known that you could collect as many rocking horses - it seems and incredible number, Elizabeth. I did send you a private email last week using the address I found here but did you receive it? Perhaps you could contact me through my email sending me your snail mail address - I have something I'd like to send to you. Elizabeth x #99
I don't think I have ever seen so many beautiful rocking horses in my life. In a way, it is good that your computer is playing up, if it wasn't we wouldn't have seen your lovely horses. Had to giggle at the one in the loo.
Von #30 :)
Wow, love the rocking horses. Thanks for sharing. Zo x
That's an unusual but comprehensive collection there! Some beautiful examples.
What a great collection of rocking horses. Thanks for sharing them.

Elizabeth, that collection is bordering on an obsession! But I think we all need something to do to keep us out of mischief! Are all 450 out on display somewhere, or do you keep some packed away? I would imagine the Christmas decs are put away each year. Hope you get your computer sorted out soon.
Hugs

I think that wonderful beast at the foot of the bed would be my favourite too ...and I love the ones in the last photo.
Thank you for sharing all the rocking horses!

Hi there Elizabeth well done on being numero uno! love all the horse but my fav. one is yours the big one in the guest room remember playing on such a one as a child at my fiends place! thanks so much for sharing. Happy WOYWW! love, Shaz in Oz. x #67
That is a serious collection, Elizabeth. I always wanted a rocking horse when I was a child, but never got one. I did get to have riding lessons later though and spent a lot of my holidays either at the local riding school or at the stables and house of Pat Smythe, who was the world's leading lady show jumper at that time. My children did not get a rocking horse either, but they did have a rocking duck, which had been made for my OH when he was a child. Hope you soon get your computer back to working. xx Maggie #70
