Vintage Modern

I have another spread for Halle from Halle’s Hobbies who is hosting this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is I've got a notion. I'm calling this latest entry Vintage Modern.  I have detail shots and two have been rotated so you can see them better.

I began by sewing each of the squares to the substrate using variegated thread.  I am having a difficult time with my tension at the moment, which causes the thread to break a lot.

I then adhered the very old stickers to the side of the entry.  Tip: If you don't have a needed letter, cut an outline and adhere it as I did the T.

Bleubeard and I are thrilled you joined us and hope to see you this month at Art Journal Journey as you share your own interpretation of I've got a notion.

  2. ...time goes by so quickly that things that I think are modern are considered vintage.

  4. Those are cool fabrics. Or are they pieces of paper. They look fabulous together, and they work great for this piece. I hope you're having a nice weekend. hugs-Erika

  5. Fun fabric swatch sampler piece. Tension can be tricky sometimes and very frustrating. I really don't have any sage advice for you...really just trial and error.

  7. You do such good work.
I struggled with my sewing machine for years until the local store explained that I had the wrong bobbins for my machine. I did not know. I'd get so grustrated.

  10. I never mastered the art of tension on a sewing machine. These have such nice bright colors and you combine them beautifully.

  11. Aha - this is what I was waiting for. Some of your machine stitching on the page. You always inspire me to do it myself but I never do, maybe with this challenge, one time I will.
Lovely and bright, this page is so you.
