I have another spread for Halle from Halle’s Hobbies, our host this month at Art Journal Journey. Her theme, as you may know by now is I've got a notion.
Obviously this is called Buttons and Bows. The name was chosen because that was the name of the Butterick sewing pattern. Detail shots are below.
This page started when I scanned the sewing pattern that came in this envelope. Every envelope contains both the pattern and the pattern pieces. This one included the notions and motifs, in addition to the yardage needed for the sweat shirt(s). I then sewed the pattern to the substrate using blue variegated thread. Because the pattern didn't cover the substrate, I added a gifted stick on piece of lace. I included nine heart buttons, one for each of the colors that came in a kit I bought several years ago at Dollar Tree, back when everything was a dollar! I also added a silver bow with a tiny pearl in the center.
It's been forever since I joined Andree, her team, and guest designer Michelle at Creative Artiste.
This is challenge #106, and I felt I had to join in this month. Their
challenge is always Anything Mixed Media Goes. One of the rules is, you
need at the very least, to have or use three different mediums in your
project. I have a scan of a sweat shirt pattern for my background, a bow, nine heart shaped buttons, blue variegated thread, and stick on lace.
Bleubeard and I are thrilled you joined us today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey and Creative Artiste. Be sure to read the rules because these are two very different challenges.
Those are gorgeous buttons.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the pattern as a background with the added heart buttons. It's a long time since I made clothes. Hugs Wendy

Great composition and I love those buttons, of course!

ReplyDeleteIf only I had a pattern, a button, a bow or some lace. What good use you have put to them - loving those buttons especially.
ReplyDeleteWould you mind checking my blogpost to see if it qualifies and if not remove my name from AJJ please. Got myself in a pickle at the moment as you will read.
Thanks & Hugs, Neet xxx
A wonderful journal page Elizabeth, welcome back to Creative Artiste! You've really jazzed up that lovely sewing pattern with the delightful and colourful heart buttons. The added textures of the dramatic looking lace, pretty, shiny bow and the fabulous stitching are all gorgeous.
